What things have you tried to mimic you've seen a pro boxer do?

All I know is this, my coach is teaching me plenty of techniques and I watch pro boxing/amateur boxing to see what works and what doesn't. I tend to copy those that are doing it well. Then I try it in practice. If I can get it to work, then I might try it in a fight.

Edit: My first fight is going to be this friday or saturday. So, I really can't say this is true, it is just how I feel about it. I have tried plenty of basic movements in practice.

  3. I find the shoulder roll and boxing from a low half crouch is affective against rangey fighters. Conceal the chin behind the shoulder, you have the right hand catching punches in front of you, left punches to the head or body that come from peripheral vision. nice balanced mobile stance for moving and slipping. The only weakness is the left hand being down over the body but that is easy fixed, simply raise it when you feel you need extra protection or better platform to throw jabs.

Plenty of pro technique we all practice. My main one at the moment is putting a loads of straight punches and mixed punches in bunches on the heavy bag like i've seen pacman do. Soft hits and hard hits, mix it up. Then turn that into body punches in bunches. It is physically taxing i find it transfers into sparring well because the partner is usually only looking to defend 1-3 punches but i'll have more punches coming. I've also seen margerito work on constant hitting on the bag but not as fast as pacquiao.

Tyson, I tried the Pikaboo guard but I got hit a lot so I don't use it.

I picked up "stalking" from watching pro boxing, and it seemed to work out okay, I could sometime get my sparring partners in a corner of the ring.

I use Jones JR's defence style (not the fancy stuff but the actual defense) worked miracles for me, have naturally low reaction time so i can dodge shots easily and im a very speedy fighter.
