Since they are having a show in January, which seems to show that Zuffa has signed an extention with Showtime, what do you think should be done with the Org? Come up with whatever you want. I would've loved to have seen them bring the Flyweights there before bringing them over to the UFC. Let them stay in Strikeforce till either they folded the company, or had them there for about 2 years or so to get them more notoreity.
They only really have Gilbert v Masvidal and Barnett v Cormier as intriguing matches. They should have the GP final as their last show then integrate it with the UFC.
They bought the WEC and look where that went... They bought Pride and look where that went... They bought Strikeforce lets see where it goes...
As I said in March, Strikeforce should focus on Tournaments Women Legends Its a waste of time running mini-UFC championships. Focus it on things that the UFC can't offer. The advantage is as well that The Tournaments develop contenders for UFC belts Focusing on Women continues to grow the female sport without placing undue pressure on them to meet UFC standards Hiring legends stops them giving Bellator a leg-up in the ratings
Agree with Will. Also, guys like Ortiz, Alves (nearly), Hardy and numerous others who aren't really elite, should be fighting in SF. Even someone like Machida is 1-3 in his last 4 but I wouldn't let a guy like him go even if he lost 1 or 2 more. Ultimately, the UFC should use SF as a buffer between them and every other org trying to compete with them. SF can take a TV channel instead of a competitor, ex UFC fighters, soon to be UFC fighters, legends, women and try out new formats like tournies.
I think these are good ideas, but I'd add the flyweights. There is no need to bring them over without anyone knowing really any of them. And the legends thing is good. Bring in Rizzo, Sylvia, Pulver and even AA over for some fights. I think it would also be good if they could somehow get Strikeforce a deal where it can do shows on another network. I think Fox Sports Net would be good to do some Strikeforce shows.
Flyweights are coming to UFC. Won't work in Strikeforce as the best flyweights will just try their luck as UFC bantamweights (a la many good quality featherweights pre UFC/WEC merger) Showtime is better than Fox Sports Net. Showtime actually pays to broadcast fights.
