I didn't know enough about Smith to call that, but Fonfara had been dropped and stopped before, the clues were there.
Dude I'm a huge Martinez fan but, I think realistically Cotto's following performance vs Geale, and then again vs Alvarez that would show that the Martinez win and Cotto's run at MW in general was no fluke. I ultimately pick Marcella to win but Cotto was always gonna be the most skilled guy he'd fought. As far as the overall question for fights I had rooting interest in Matthysse-Garcia and def vs Postol, Mares-Gonzalaz, & Donaire-Rigo jump out immediately.
i remember almost everybody here had dawson schooling stevenson LMAO i always knew he would get destroyed tough
Good question... Id say right now the ones that stand out that I can think of would be Cotto vs Martinez : Was not expecting a massacre Mosley vs Margarito : Didnt think Mosley would destroy him Golovkin vs Jacobs : Thought G would stop or dominate DJ. Thurman vs Garcia : Thought Thurman would dominate.
Chico vs Floyd...I remember feeling sorry for Corrales after a round or 2. Chico vs Casamayor...to this day, I still believe Chico was on the verge of scoring a knockout if they didn’t stop the fight. El Cepillo was starting to gas and panic. Hamed vs Barrera...I bought into the hype and thought Hamed’s flash would be too much for the quiet technician. Diaz vs Campbell...the best, most focused version of Campbell took the much younger Diaz to school. Mugabi vs Norris...If I had to pick the winner by KO1, I would’ve never picked Norris. Hill vs Hearns...Hearns did what great fighters do by having one more magic performance in him. Toney vs Griffin...I figured Toney would be too much for an even smaller, less venomous version of himself. RJJ vs Johnson...this fight proved just how far RJJ had slipped since his first fight with Target. Rahman vs Lewis 2. I really underestimated Lewis’s resolve to come back from such a humiliating defeat. Trinidad vs Hopkins...Bernard completely nullified Tito’s left hook and exposed him as a one trick pony who could easily be outboxed as long as you stayed away from his left hook...remember too that Hopkins did not immediately receive the SRR trophy that was meant for the winner. Rumor has it that the promoters had already engraved it for Tito. I need to add this one to the boxing conspiracies thread.
Klitschko vs Brewster, Pacquiao vs Marquez IV, Donaire vs Rigondeaux, Gonzalez vs Rungvisai 2, Martinez vs Cotto, Fury vs Klitschko, Wilder vs Stiverne 1
Trinidad-Hopkins Tua-Lewis Tyson-Holyfield I Marco Antonio Barrera-Manny Pacquaio I Roy Jones-Antonio Tarver II Diego Corrales-Acelino Freitas
Are you just trying to rub salt into Pac's wounded fanbase?.....pretty sure you had no idea who Pac was when those fights took place. Anyway, my mention is Cotto vs Ali. I figured this was just a cherrypick intended to make sure Cotto easily rode off valiantly into the sunset(retirement).
On second thought I think just one Fury v Wlad. The irony in it was I never seen such little support pre fight for an underdog in quite a long time. The post fight fandom was something to behold though...I can honestly say that I also never seen so many boisterous supporters pop out of unknown sections of the dark net in ages. It’s as if they were lying dormant like a herpies virus waiting to show the world its excretions now that everyone has accepted it as a somewhat normal event in life.
