    Here's the list:

    Martinez
    Sturm ( )
    Murray
    Geale
    Rubio

I think Rubio would have no problem to fight 3G.

Like you, we can rule out Sturm and with Hearn's honesty in his interview we can rule out any of his stable too.
Geale said he "wouldn't duck" GGG if he caught the title, and then vacated. So you can obviously rule him out too.
Chavez jr can't make MW anymore (can he even make SMW?) and Quillin will hide behind network issues.

Leaves Maravilla (hoping :wooo) after his next fight and Rubio.

Judging by last year and the MW landscape, he will probably fight a line up of something like:
    Adama
    Rubio
    Mundine
    Geale

I'm pretty sure Geale will fight him if it's in the US, will draw more appeal to him as he needs to build a fan base but Beating GGG is a tough ask, I'm a Geale fan I don't think he can beat GGG but I think Geale is the type of fighter who always takes 1step back 2steps forwards and he would give GGG a helava fight

don't know why, maybe I'm wrong but I think Martinez vs 3G fight has better chances to happen next year if Martinez loses with Cotto. :hey:think

By losing with Cotto, Sergio would want to desperately cash out and he'd take the fight with 3G, regardless of the consequences.

If Martinez beats Cotto, he'd want to fight Canelo and then maybe Floyd, assuming he passes of Canelo.

    just a theory ......

i wouldn't put my money on any top MW agreeing to fight Triple G in 2014. the money has to be a lot more than anyone else to justify the beatdown loss for them.

    What top MW's..?

    There aren't any.
The entire division is a desert.

If GG were from the hood you'd be calling for the 32 y/o to "challenge himself" by fighting Ward.

Golovkin isn't the most ambitious guy in the world.

Evidenced by his fighting multiple 154 pounders, claiming to be willing to fight down at 154 pounds, and then only ever fighting them at 160 (he did have an original 158 pound catchweight with Rosado but mutually agreed to up it to the 160 limit).

Sergio is the only legit guy at MW that a win would mean a tremendous amount over, even still at Sergio's condition (activity, last fight, injuries, etc.)

Guys like Quillin, Murray, Sturm, and Geale aren't particularly bad top 10 guys but yeah, no one "defining win" there.

This is the sorry thing here - I'm a big GGG fan, and would like to see him fight the 160 top ten guys - but as things stand its almost like he's becoming de facto kingpin at 160 without actually fighting anyone...Since the whole point of this sport is watching the fights it's a little disappointing to say the least.

Recent news suggests Maravilla is less than thrilled about the idea of going out on his shield, Murray looks like he'd rather jump on the IBF carousel and Sturm..,well - ducking since 2009 - what can you say?

There are hints Geale might be willing to face him but that's about it....The whole situation is farcical but as you point out -the only win that would be of much significance would be Maravilla and given his performance against Murray even that probably doesn't mean so much anymore.

The reality is that Golovkin really has little choice but to move up to 168 if he wants to retain relevence - although given his growing popularity amongst the casual fan he could probably continue knocking out fringe level guys for another year or two and get away with it.

it just looks like a desert because triple G so obviously has much more talent than the rest of the division. don't you worry, he'll knock out Ward for ya in the next couple years.

GG's fans claim he's a teeny tiny MW to justify fighting so many jr middles and totally ducking his claim to fight ANYBODY even at 168.

K2 is not about taking chances and that's fine by GG's fans because they don't want to see him step up themselves.

    A guy coming down...how brave.

Ward got slammed for the Dawson fight but GG gets a lap dance for the same stuff against a far inferior opponent.

Soon to be 32....GG is not the most ambitious guy in boxing....and that's fine by his hard-up for a hero fans:deal

Stevens didn't just come down. he's staying at MW.

Ward is a joke. rushes in to grab somebody then after the break jumps up with wild hooks to try and sucker punch them. can't wait until G exposes that fraudulent punk. no class.
