Basically, if you were going to make a list of guys you want to teach you the mechanics of power punching, who would be on the list?
I would probably pick Steward. Almost everybody he either trained from the ground up or got later on he tweaked their punching technique. Hearns had very few KOs as a amateur and turned into a KO artist.
Robert Garcia - not really one punch ko artists barring one few, bit heavy handed none the less. Donaire, Rios, margarito, maidana and pavlik. Although he didn't exactly train them all from scratch.
I could see that. When you see lower wight dudes straight icing guys the way Maidana and Donaire can you know something is being done right.
Margarito, pavlik & rios are guys who balloon in weight come fight night and typically have 15 lbs on their opponents hence both the chins & power
Trainer produce power punchers? Dah ****. Alot of trainers will tell you it comes naturally - But these trainers usually are the top bunch who have these fighters who have passed through many trainers in the past throughout their careers.
I don't know if a trainer can take credit for such a thing, but Steward has a good history. Teaching tall guys to have excellent balance and technique should consistently lead to good KO punchers.
Hearns didn't get his power until later Emanual said he went up weight and height until he eventually ''grew into his punch''
