What are we lookin at with a fight between Vitali verse Sonny Liston? Never kd in 47 fights, he'd have to have a solid to take on Liston. But Liston had never really faced anyone like Vitali either. Who wins.
Vitali trying to take Liston's jab away, Liston trying to counter those actions. I don't think the jab is the deciding weapon, I think its' what happens when Vitali tries to take it, because he's not going away. Twelve rounds might not be long enough for Vitali to measure the jab, take it, then out-bid Liston's counter-measures so I'll pick Liston to win an unsatisfactory fight on points, one for the purists bar an insane last round.
Vitali by decision. Easily his hardest fight for Klitschko., his face would be battered. But he'd win.
I don't know anything about that. I know that if Vitali is badly cut he hasn't the adaptability to stop the damage from getting worse
As usual there's the "Vitali has a glass face" narrative being pushed. Based on the huge total of 1 (one) fight. What if instead we pushed the "Liston has a glass jaw" narrative, based on being knocked out by light hitting Ali? Or I suppose we could take an objective look at things but that's likely too hard.
Would Vitali be able to control the distance and keep Sonny at bay? With Sonny's jab being the superior of the two I kinda doubt it. Once the range is closed Vitali will be in brawl with Sonny Liston
It would be like Liston-Wepner. Yes, I know Vitali was a lot better than Wepner. But a 1960 Liston was a lot better than a 1970 Liston.
