Ok, if Tyson is going to take this comeback seriously what he should do first of all is go back to the basics and rehire Kevin Rooney. After that, he should take a page out of Foreman's comeback and fight once a month or every other month for 100-200K per fight on ESPN2 for a year against bums at the beginning, and slowly raise the level of opposition. Foreman did this for much longer than a year, but Tyson won't be able to wait that long. He's is in horrible shape as he states, and really hasn't been training or fighting on a regular basis for over 10 years. When he was at his best he was fighting every other month and training all the time. That is why in spite of loading up on every punch, he could go a hard 12 rounds if needed. This will improve his stamina and at the same time allow him to get his skills as sharp as they can be at his age.

After a year, he would be ready to face a top 10 heavyweight. A fight with Joe Mesi would be interesting and make big money in NY after the year is up. Why fight Holyfield now? Even though Holyfield is old, he's been fighting more often and is always in good shape. Why not do as I said and that fight can happen a year from now. Holyfield's stubborn ass ain't going nowhere!! Your thoughts?

Add "rematch Danny Williams/Kevin McBride", and I've been hearing almost the exact crap on here since 2004 (with a brief respite in the last 13 months or so) from the Tyson faithful.

GET ONE THING STRAIGHT: Tyson will never be a significant force in the heavyweight division again. Remember when he was going to do a farewell world tour, boxing exhibitions? He was burned out after one fight with Corey Sanders. If he couldn't sustain that a year ago, what makes you think he could sustain a Foreman-style comeback?

Foreman's comeback was based on him being suited to being an old warhorse. Even then, it took a miracle of a punch for Foreman's comeback to be anything more than a confirmation of his iron chin and will. Tyson had a young man's style, and a lot less luck.

I'm not sure Tyson could beat anyone in the top 50 today...

Sounds good southpaw. He should stay away from Holyfield. Holyfield knew how to beat TYson after he fought Dwight Qwauwi (SIC)

Tyson's planning a comeback? Again? I hadn't heard. That doesn't sound like a very good idea.

Everyone probably clings to the hope. But, he just does not have the hunger or desire. Plus, since it looks as though he has been doing drugs and depressed, he is through. I agree that he would need Kevin Rooney and those guys, but then he would have to admit he was wrong. Too much pride, although I bet a Tyson comeback with his old crew would generate a hell of boxing interest...

I think he'll come back for real. He has a love/hate relationship with boxing. He's also broke and bored to boot.

Kind of doubt it? You have a better chance of fulfilling your New Years resolution of getting laid then Tyson has of winning a title. :deal

The odd thing is, Tyson probably hasn't lost that much as far as speed, and certainly hasn't lost any power. It's all in his head. If he rededicated himself- and got Rooney back in his corner (essential) went back to bob and weave, practiced defense, really felt the fire inside again, he could be competitive. But I just can't see all of that coming together with his well-documented 'issues'.

How is an old alcoholic like Kevin Rooney gonna do Mike any good?
You all should have a reality check.

This is all just talking out our asses, of course. But I think the logic is that post-Rooney, Tyson's defense ceased. No head movement. He just began to walk into punches. No defense. I don't think anybody seriously believes that Tyson's coming back, but if he did, he'd want to emulate the gameplan and approach of that era of his career, when Rooney was in his corner and Mike actually listened to instructions. Again, this is all hot air, cause I don't see Mike leaving the safety of his BMW.

My thoughts are this is the third thread about this topic in one day. Tyson will never be anywhere near championship level again. Why can't people accept that?
