You're probably correct, but we are just saying what he would need to do to get there, not that he will actually do it.
A previous poster was correct when he said Tyson had a young mans style. He had his success in his early 20s. I cannot see Tyson having any joy with a 'Foreman style' comeback...Tyson is alot smaller than George and is an easy target without speed and stamina. The only heavys that last have the height and size..unfortunatley Tyson doesnt.
Back then, the Cruiserweight limit was 190lbs. Even if it was 200lbs as it is now, Tyson hasn't weighed 200 since he was 12. Finally, there's a lot more "tickets" at heavyweight than there are at Cruiser.
Agreed. We all know he's done, we just like it when he's in the news because there may never be another heavyweight quite like him.
Tyson can make money fighting, his fan base is quite possibly one of the biggest. I think if he would decide to reunite with Rooney after almost 20 years, it would definitely grab peoples attention. Do I think Tyson could win a title, probably not, but he would make the Heavyweight divsion exciting again if he could win some matches by knockout. Tyson/Holyfield would be huge, and if quick money is what Tyson is looking for, this fight is his best avenue. I think if Tyson was serious about his career he would start of slow like Foreman did back in 87, which took him 4 years to get a title shot with Holyfield. If I was Tyson I would start off by fighting guys with glass chins, to get some of his confidence back and peoples interest as well. After maybe 3 years of coming up slowly but surely, then challenge one of the belt holders in a mega fight.
Alot of what I said is very factual, as far as Tyson getting a title shot, why not? Briggs did, Holyfield did, even Golota, whos blown out early time and time again, if your a popular fighter and can string a few wins together, you will get opertunities tp fight for a title, especially in todays Heavyweight picture. I dont think its a great idea for Tyson to come back, but if he does I hope he does it the right way, by moving up slowly. Tyson still got power, with the right training and dedication anythings possible.
Your dreaming:nut reunite with Rooney?? WTF Rooney is a drunk alcoholic who is in no condition to train anyone especially a head caes like Tyson.. Tyson is near 42yrs old to short at 5-10 to compete with Heavy's today that at 6-4 would dwarf him, and Mike can't move out of the way or take a punch anymore he hasn't fought in 3 years and was dropped on his ass and knocked out by Tomato can Kevin Mcbride, and before that took a serios ass whipping from so-so Danny Williams.. You guy's need a reality check Tyson's prime was 21 long years ago, i suppose some of you still think Ronald Reagan is President, listen to Vanilla Ice, watch Miami Vice, have Mullets, or Jeri Curls, and drive Trans Ams...
I never said Tyson would win a title, but he can still win fights if his head is in the right place and is properly trained. Its not like the divsion is anything special, Tyson could still probably beat most guys outside the top 20. As far as you saying the division is filled with big fighters, Maskaev- 6'2, Chagaev- 6'1, Peter- 6'0 and a half, Iggy- 6'0, although said to be 6'2, Holyfield was at least 2 inches bigger. Not much of a difference to 5'11, not that it really matters anyway, boxings based on skills, not size.:deal
Believe it or not, basic head movement, a good chin, and good power will set you above 90% of the heavyweights in the world, nowadays.
