this got me thinking ,and of uk boxers ive always thought that Murray was a tad ,but still a good boxer. who else would you say and why /.
I'd say Macklin. After a good showing against Strum (wh is also overrated), suddenly people think he can dominate the middleweights & take on Martinez. Less that a year ago he was going life & death with journeymen.
froch tends to get over-rated by some. he hasnt beaten any champions yet, only fought for vacant belts.
I would have to disagree. He doesn't get wholly overrated... most people see him for an entertainer and know he has his flaws. Belts mean nothing. Also, he signed up for the supersix to fight the best in his division... not really his fault about the 'title fights' as his opponents weren't bringing belts to the table, with the exception of upcoming Ward. Kell Brook is overrated in my opinion, to answer your question OP. Still a lot to prove.
Ok, while Varon is not exactly a journey man, I think Macklin struggled alot-even allowing for being ill. Macklin has had a couple of impressive win like Asikainen & Elcock but his name is made, imo, on defeats to Strum & Moore. I'd pick Barker or Lee over Macklin at the minute, never mind Martinez.
dont you think the way he has comeback after his ko is good? i cant say hes overated, hes always entertained me even if he does annoy me,he also has taken a risky fight in maidana
This. The guy is over 25 now (I think), has 20 plus fights under his belt and the only two names on his CV are 40-year-old journeyman and a guy who once lost to Cotto.
Nope, never really heard anyone overrate him either. Maybe overachieving? People; fans, critics and presenters all know he isn't brilliant and lacks power... but what he does well, he does well. He deserves to be where he is, but will come to an end with Katsidis.
