The Freddie Mills story would be great. The vague serial killer innuendo's. Kevin Mitchell did a book on the Benn-Mcllenan fight that touches on their life leading up to the fight. Haunting stuff, especially concerning Benn's brother. Kirkland Laing would be a great actors part. A Dennis Andries story would definetly have a Rocky/Cinderella Man vibe going on. I can imagine his beating at the hands of Tommy Hearns playing as a montage over the opening credits. Kevin Finnegan would make an interesting character piece. Boxer, artist and eccentric.
The story I've heard about the Gomez film is that there wasn't enough money invested in it, they managed to film scenes and even make a trailer but didn't have enough money to finish production so it's either on the backburner or cancelled altogether.
what were these innuendos? my great uncle fought him many times in the booths. i know there were question marks over his 'suicide'
your great uncle must hve been a tough un' if he tangled with freddie so many times.what did he have to say about him ??
There were wild rumours that he was "Jack the Stripper", also that he was going to be outed as gay or that the Chinese mafia killed him.
Ted Kid Lewis would be a good shout as well. Got into politics with the British union of Fascists even tho he was Jewish! (was at a time when the BUF didn't support anti semitism mind, and he left the party when it adopted that line)
jack kid berg, wild man in the ring, wilder out of it ,engaged to a wealthy american, worked in the movies after retiring
