well Holmes took Mercer to school for a start and secondly, you ever heard of a journeyman called Jesse Ferguson? the guy who Tyson stopped when he had just turned pro? yep he beat the **** out of Ray mercer Mercer wasnt sh*t but a toughman in his own era, what makes you think he was going to be anything special in any other era? Holmes himself said, ill face anyone, except Tyson, i never want to face him again Ray Mercer > Mike Tyson, you must be having a laugh Oh by the way........name me Ray Mercers top 10 wins please. Ill be eagerly awaiting your reply :hi:
to be fair tyson is one of my favourite fighters, just having the crack,in his heyday would have given any heavyweight ever nightmares, infact head to head i would have him favourite against just about any hw that ever lived.as well as his natural gifts he was born with he was like a sponge and had a great mentor who created a style that was perfect for tysons attributes,he was also ultra dedicated and trained as hard as anyone, once the structure in his life fell away,so did his dedication and his training,no matter how good a fighter is you cannot do this and carry on winning.his resume wasnt great but he beat some good fighters and holmes was a great win,but his resume is far better than joe louis who ppl argue to be the best of all time, and put anyone who faced tyson in against the tyson of 87 and they are getting beat.tyson never reached his prime but if he did its scary to think how much he could have achieved.to be heavyweight champion at the age he achieved it is an astonishing accomplishment if he would have stuck with rooney and lead a clean life he would have gone down at the very least top 3 atg heavy i recon higher, but he didnt and its a shame
Why don't you go look at your hero Wladdy's first 19 fights. Acutally is first 30 fights were a complete and utter joke and he even LOST to one of them:rofl:rofl
I'm mentioning Azzer85 and not getting off the thread. Now what? :think Who the fuc k are u to tell me what to do? I'm a grown azz man. I have just as much right to tell you to get off the thread. I've clearly demonstrated that Mike struggled against larger heavyweights. Referenced an article where people who would know say Mime was scared shitless of Foreman and wanted no part of him. Pointed out how Ray Mercer did as well or better against Lewis and Holyfield than your love boy did. Also I pointed out that out of the 5 legit heavyweight champs of the 90s, Tyson either never fought or lost to them. So he wasn't a great fighter. He was very good, but that's it. Like Kelly Pavlik, but with a lot more hype. There, now you gtfo the thread:hi:
Tyson before prison would have given ANY HW legend fits and possibly knocked them out. I think we underrate Tyson for taking Buster Douglas lightly and losing twice to roids Holyfield and Lewis post prime. Tyson in prime was a fckin beast. NOT overrated at all.
How did mike struggle with larger opponents? Most of them were lager. Also its well documented tysons camp made 3 different offers to foreman with foreman turning each of them down, hes even on camara and talks about don king sending him a contract but he refused to sign it.
