Meh. Not really. Nobody agrees with Holyfield that he was the best of his era. One of the main men yes, but I think most agree that Lewis was the man of that era.
Lewis wanted the name Mike Tyson on his record. By the time they actually fought 'Mike Tyson' was long gone.

I disagree, but i can see your point.

Although all three are similar ages, i feel their eras were different

Tysons was 86-89, Holyfields was 90-97ish and Lewis was 97 onwards.

Holyfield and Lewis were the best 2 of the 90s, all depends on what your criteria is.

Holyfield has wins over Holmes, Foreman, Cooper, Mercer, Tyson (x2), Bowe and Moorer

Lewis has Ruddock, Bruno, Golota, Mercer, Tua, Briggs and Mcall

Amazing post and full of **** as usual :good

False marketing? so people were falsly led by Tysons fights?

If only you'd spoken sooner you could have ended the hypetrain :verysad

If millions of boxing fans worldwide both knowledgable and casuals, all admit Tyson was great in his prime...according to you these are all brainwashed?

When Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis want to cement their legacies on Tysons name.....i guess both of these guys are full of **** too?

This honestly just seems like you are projecting your own feelings on others, otherwise why would this thought even enter your mind?

Tyson was an aggressive come-forward and throw every punch with bad intentions in an era of very weak heavyweights who actually postured more than they punched and when they punched, it was not with "bad intentions" for the most part. Sometimes I wonder if Tyson was pushed to the top so quickly because his handlers wanted him to get fame and fortune before he had to go through Lewis and Bowe to get it, which would have had him not being the champion at the end of the fight.

I think you're misinformed.....Lewis and Bowe didnt turn pro until '89. By that time Tyson had already cleared out his division more or less. Cayton and Jacobs probably didnt even know who Lewis and Bowe were!

Bowe and Lewis to Tyson in '89 were what Anthony Joshua is to Wlad

And secondly, a pre prison version of Tyson would have beat them both up.

Both of them made a name beating Tyson leftovers especially Bowe

I believe Emanuel Steward said Lewis and Tyson had a few in-ring encounters in the gym during their amateur day and Tyson didn't fare well against him at all and I'm sure they knew who Bowe was. Bowe would have beaten Tyson; decent chin, hard punch, great jab, great in-fighter. He could back Tyson up and beat him.

How does Emmanuel know? he didnt train Lewis until the mid 90's/ And seeing as he was training Lewis i wouldnt have expected him to say anything else

Actually Tyson and Lewis sparred once and Tyson apparently sent Lewis through the ropes. Lewis mentions this on the HBO documentary 'I dont want to fight this guy, hes an animal' (Lewis own comments).

Tyson and Bruno also sparred alot when they were younger and it was Bruno who started getting the upper hand against Tyson, but sometimes, somehow this is mis interpreted as Lennox Lewis. This was mentioned in a Tyson/Bruno documentary in '89 before their fight.

Bowe would not have beaten Tyson, but thats another argument altogether.

and like i said, Tysons management would not have known who the hell Bowe was in '89 when Tyson was champion and Bowe just turned pro.

in '91 when Tyson was beating up Razor Ruddock and getting ready to regain his titles from Holyfield....Riddick Bowe was fighting Elijah Tillery and getting a controversial decision against Tony Tubbs (the guy who Tyson kod in 2, about 3-4 years prior)

Its like comparing Carl Froch to Eunbank Junior. Bowe and Lewis didnt make a name for themselves until AFTER Tyson had gone to prison.

He was just the most exciting fighter ever, that's all. He energized the fan base greater than any boxer had before or since. If you didn't live through it, I could understand why you might doubt it ever happened, living in today's dull boxing times.

He was so great in his prime, when he returned from prison people still expected him to be back to his prime self again

Even now, some people believe Tyson will come back and rule the division again

True. For many, many years you would hear people say, "if only he got back with Rooney, he'd come back and unify all the belts again."
