If you're not sure what the fuss was about try watching his fights. I'm a bit older than him and I remember how invincible everyone thought he was, and at one time he may very well have been. But jail, a different trainer, lack of discipline all played a role in his demise. But truthfully pressure fighter's have a short self life as it is.
Tyson was a very special and exciting fighter, until Don King destroyed his career......................but when Tyson was prime he was exciting, even after his prime for a while..............
a shot to **** tyson almost had him out w one punch in the second round. imagine what a prime tyson would have done.
Azzer85, one of the last of the mohicans. Good to see you cleaning up shop in these parts. Do you happen to know the whereabouts of Ironchamp and Lefthook? Haven't seen them post in quite some time. *MIKE TYSON aka Iron Mike aka Kid Dynamite aka Mighty Mike aka Catskill Thunder aka Big Head Mike aka Typhoon Tyson* -Youngest to win the heavyweight championship. -First and only heavyweight to unify all three belts. -9 successful title defenses. -Only man besides Ali and Foreman to regain the heavyweight championship 10 years after first winning it. -Ran roughshod over the division like a hot knife through butter. -Made Tyrell Biggs perform womanly gestures. -Invented the "Berbick flop", a fake injury performed during futbol matches emulating Trevor Berbick. -An '88 Mike Tyson would defeat any fighter that ever lived. :deal
Dunno whatever happened to Lefhook, Kalasinn, Ironchamp etc, maybe they went to Checkhook boxing? i did get an invite for that but never visited the place I guess me and you are the last remnants :good Mike Tyson was the inventor of the Chicken Dance
But i bet you give Lewis kudos for beating the same guys right? the only difference between Tysons resume and Lewis' is Lewis avenged his rematches, beat Holyfield and Vitali, other than that, their resumes are very similar. For a start Trevor Berbick was much better than Hasim Rahman. Shannon Briggs had just as many big wins as Bruce Seldon did. (Basically none) Tubbs was just as good as Mercer, H2H probably better. Both Tyson/Lewis beat Ruddock, Golota, Botha, Biggs, Bruno and Tucker.....so if Tysons resume is ****, then Lewis's is pretty sh*t too minus the Holyfield/Vitali wins Tyson also beat Larry Holmes and Michael Spinks too and Carl Williams, Alex Stewart and Clifford Ettienne
lol. Lots of K-morons in here saying Tyson fought in a **** era but then want to put Wlad in the HW top 5 ATG list for fighting in an era 10 times worse:nut The problem with these fools is that they know nothing at all about HWs from the 80s.
Never been a fighter before or since that created the kind of crackling electric atmosphere as a prime Tyson. Sadly, the morons posing as boxing fans will never experience that, but it'd probably be wasted on them anyway. As for questioning how good he was, really? You're not even slightly embarrassed at your lack of knowledge?
