I can tell you. His greatest asset was his footwork. Hugo Corro was also very successful and difficult to solve

    Consistency.
He imposed his game plan against all of his opponents,
never deviating from what he wanted to do, and what
    he did best.
Factor in good height, reach and power for the weight
    class.

I like to see Hugo Corro's name being brought up in a positive way..it doesn't happen that often, and that's a shame because he was a canny, clever fighter who deserves more credit than he gets.

Nobody, except Richard, can say that they're a bigger fan of Monzon's than me. I've been following his career since 1970, and as a fan, he never let me down...always, always persevering against the challengers and opponents of his day...always finding a way to win, whatever the circumstances.

And remember Richard, there would have never been a Vito Antuofermo title reign if Corro had just felt like fighting in the last 5 rounds of their title bout. I don't credit Corro at all for this lapse...and I know that it disgusted the Argentine fight fans, as well as both Galindez and Monzon, who felt that he just plain, and simple

Some of the best posts on a fighter, I have read since I joined a short time ago, simply divine, for me it was al the above in spades, but the intangible, most of his opponents ( if not all ) knew , just knew they prob wasn't going to hurt him, much less beat him, he truly was an implacable fighter, supreme in the knowledge that he was nigh on invincible, and that he could beat any body that was put in front of him, that said , he didn't instill fear like say, Tyson, Liston, etc., his menace was calm and calculated thought out slowly over the duration of the fight, their was no blueprint , no trainer, no punching power, no boxing skills , he couldn't overcome. The word great is banded about too often sometimes, not in King Carlos , only SRR, Greb, and the late lamented MM Hagler should be said in the same breath. keep well.

Even Howard Cosell stated in that June 30 1979 title bout from Monte Carlo, Monaco, If Corro Had Thrown Some More Punches, He Would Have Won. Who knows?. Maybe he was using Rope A Dope, Marvelous Marvin Hagler was at ringside awaiting the winner.

He was also good at throwing his opponents off balance and he had a fantastic reach for a Middleweight.
Gill Clancy: "Monzon was a very hard fighter to beat. He doesn't look good, but he takes this little step backward all the time, which tends to make you lunge..."

    He understood how boxing works.

It isn't "styles" it isn't unique punching or special skills it's just understanding distance, timing and pulling the wool over the other guys eyes in the most painful way possible.
