Straight up he wasnt fough well in years. His fight with big nick really wasn't that big of a win seeing that big nick is don kings ***** and fight bums. Matt skelton and Ruiz wasnt really that entertaining. Just enough in the ring to get a win. His injuried for a while and comes back and fight Drummond, who really is a nobody with a good record for fighiing Who????.
I understand take this fight if u just come off 2-3 impressive win, specially KO wins.

Wlad is just a machine, and chagaev didnt have a chance. Wlad stays in killershape and trains like a warrior and destroyed the white tyson easily.
Good the see wlad with a killer performance, he showed he is #1 heavyweight in the world and showed thats how u box and punish people.

I dont think chagaev should be rank #3 in the world. Washed up, just look at the drummond fight. #3 in the world should of dusted a nobody like drummond and hes called the white tyson,, Pleaseeeee lol.

What was he thinking, and great fight wlad, u needed a win like that. Good for boxing. Chagaev probally wont fight for a while or pull an ibragimov(vanish) what do the people think

He had too many fights postponed/canceled recently so this was a good shot/risk worth taking or else wait with nothing for a long time.

You gotta give him credit he took the challenge and stepped up to the plate. Granted he didn't win but he was up against the best of the best and to get into the ring you gotta tip your hat to him.

Chagaev is a warrior. You have to respect him for getting in the ring with Wlad on short notice. He's not in the same league, but the guy has great heart. I hope he bounces back from this and does well against some of the lesser HWs.

    Chagaev probably just made
more money than ALL of his other fights combined!

    Pretty smart to me .

He figured why not make a couple million taking some lumps, Chagaev is on the way out anyway. He's not a good fighter anymore, we seen that in his last couple fights before Wlad, the diseases/injuries took it's toll on him.

Chagaev accepted the fight on short notice because it represents his career highest payday. Fighting Vlad -- for most heavyweights at least -- is like a once-in-a-lifetime chance to cash out big.

Ruslan was probably thinking that if he didn't accept the Vlad fight, he might never get another chance to fight Klitschko. All in all, I'm sure Ruslan made out well financially in this bout.

I agree - I wouldn't be surprised if he cashed out and we either a) don't see him fight again; b) 1 or 2 fights against fringe contenders, then quits.

Given his activity level and last performances, he may well have thought of himself as just about done with the sport and then this fell in his lap. Take the shot and cash out...

Chagaev cashed out and took his shot at the big times. In the 5th round when you could see Chagaev's cornerman watching Chagaev take a beating it made me think they probably thought "Why did we take this fight", Chagaev's promotor Kohl may've thought the same thing during the fight.

Chagaev's title was not on the line, so he lost nothing.

Arreola refused to fight Vlad and so did Valouev.

Chagaev lost his undefeated record by fighting Wladimir. That's something that's very overemphasized in boxing today.

Exactly. Fans forget that, for world class fighters, this is their JOB. Getting a fight with Klitschko is like a baseball player landing that big contract. You don't pass it up. And I am sure he thought he had a good chance going in.
