I been looking through his fights and there are a heap of levels where Hopkins rose and fought well above fights he has fought in recent times.

What do you think his prime was, Tito, mandatory priors?

regardless he is the best of this gen by a mile.

From Glen Johnson fight to Trinidad fight. Echols fights were probably his physical AND Boxing peak.

He looked good against Glen Johnson and Simon Brown, and was showing his improving slicker skills then.

From Jones to now. He has different stages of "prime". When he was not as fast, his boxing "prime" peaked.

No, he isnt the best of this gen, Mayweather & Pacquiao are but anyway.....

2000-02 were likely Hopkins absolute best, the Tito fight being his best ever display, his absolute peak I suppose.

You cant say that, it makes Calzaghe look good.... plus Dinamita will be on your ass faster than flies on ****

Seriously tho... Hopkins isnt prime now, he is just EXTREMELY well preserved.

Physicaly his prime was 1998 - 2003. His overall primes would be his tear through the Middleweight division in the late 90's and early 2000's, his 2nd prime is just ending now, his domination of Tarver, win over Winky, and schooling of Pavlik. If he had beat Calzaghe then that would have sealed his 2nd prime to be just as impressive as his first prime. His last fight should be a KO win over Jermain Taylor at 170 pounds.

The peak of his technical skills matching with his physical abilities was roughly '97-'03 imo. Johnson to Joppy.

2001-2004 was his best period, IMO.

1997-2003, with 2001 the absolute zenith.

He had lost a bit of his fire by the Oscar fight in '04 IMO, despite remaining a truly formidable force to this day.
