TBooze, What was I thinking??? I guess I even invented the reason for making that soft bet!!! cheers for the heads up!!atsch
I don't think I've made any glaring **** ups on British boxers. Alexeev is my worst guy I championed without doubt. He could still win a title somewhere along the road and eliminate a few blushes but he won't ever achieve what I originally thought him capable of.
Until you pointed it out I'd have sworn Hearns fought Roldan and Kinchen before Andries. I'm still not entirely convinced Boxrec hasn't got it wrong.....
The only reason I remember is Andries/Hearns was live prime time on a Saturday night on ITV (remember them days) and was broken with a news flash, because of the Zeebrugge ferry disaster and then Tyson/Smith was next morning, which all happened on March 6th/7th 1987. And Roldan was later because of The Ring headline for the Barkley fight.... Middleweight Terrorism: Iran bombs the Hitman; I know, I should get a life!
My worst ever ESB perdiction on paper was predicting Manfredo to pull off a shock win against Calzaghe. HOWEVER Everyone has to admit though that the stoppage was such a joke we never truly found out what would have happened had the fight went on. Still pisses me off that one, cos Im sure if that fight went a few more rounds, Manfredo had the style to give Joe problems.
Then you are still too young! I remember talking up Naz/Barrera in 93/94; I fought it was pick-em then, and going into the proper fight, to get them splinters out of my arse, I went for Naseem, because MAB was moving up.
Man quit while you are behind -- these are the hands you gotta fold. Manfredo was hopelessly out of his depth.
That really is a shocker Dunks!!! I was stopping mates having a punt on Manfredo at 5/1 by offering to stand the bets!!! BTW any thoughts on Pat Clinton?
