Rob Palmer had Paulie to KO Hatton with a "15 punch combination". He was quite specific on the amount of punches as well!!

hahaha quite the dramatist our Rob.

My worst was picking Robin Reid to beat Carl Froch.
That was before I was 'converted' :yep

:lol:I'm not taking the **** that's fair enough. It turned to be wrong of course but still..
I think a similar stoppage may occur in the Kotelnik/Khan fight. The ref might panic and jump in on a flurry or something particularly with Khan being the hometown fighter. Not sure what the latest is on that fight...

Anybody know what time JUanMa and Jorge Arce card starts???

In his (Rob Palmer's) defence, even the Greatest, Ali, went a step further and (tried to) predict the 30 second passage he was going to beat Ron Lyle (2 mins-2 mins, 30 secs into the eighth, if I remember correctly), and was made to look an arse.

I think quite a few of us Brits are not being honest, if we do not admit to picking Reid over that overhyped Jeff Lacy.....:think

It would have been a shocker of a prediction if it wasnt for that horrible stoppage IMO, Calzaghe was slapping away expending a lot of energy without landing a single meaningful punch & the ref stopped it:-(

& no-one can tell me that the stoppage didnt leave bitter taste in everyones mouth, Manfredo covered up, rolled with the punches & didnt take a clean shot & still the fight got waved off:patsch

I still believe to this day that Manfredo would have given me ESB glory by pulling off a shock win, if it wasnt for that dodgy stoppge.

There was a reason Manfredo was getting slapped around on the ropes, even if they weren't all landing.

He was completely out of his league. He was slow as hell, his footwork didn't get him into any position against Calzaghe, he can't punch hard enough to worry Calzaghe, he doesn't throw that much, and his boxing skill is only 'capable' at best.

And when did Calzaghe ever get majorly tired?

It was inevitable. Bad stoppage, agreed, but I'm used to seeing that in the UK. Early stoppages...the bain of British boxing.

    WHAT.:huh
The only problem Manfredo would have given Calzaghe was how much he would have hurt his hand on his face.
You must have been the only person in the world backing Peter.

I know it sounds flippant but for me that stoppage was a case of "who cares?". Mandfedo was oumatched in every single aspect, the fight got stopped a little early but who really gave a **** (bar the people who had forked out to watch the fight, but who should have known they'd paid to watch a one sided shellacking in any case)?

Didn't Calzaghe say he couldn't get motivated for people like Froch prior to that fight??

That fight was purely a Joe Calzaghe advert for the yanks.
It was a huge miss match from the start.
It was only taken to give some exposure to the yanks.

He claimed it was for American exposure. I'm not sure why he needed that when he was already done putting in the best performance of his career against the American lovechild Lacy.

In the end it probably worked out well for British boxing. Froch might not be in the position he is today if he got slapped around by Calz.
