Strangely wasn't as bad as seeing Khan getting destroyed by Presscott. I knew Khan(who didn't!) was chinny but who the **** was this guy Presscott? Good Ko percentage but against who? I was shocked when i seen how close the first Jones fight with tarver was. Jones was so used to dominating fights winning virtually all the rounds and even had a way of winning rounds off the ropes! With Tarver though it was the first time i seen him under pressure and someone who looked not only competive but able to win. I had a feeling he was in decline right then. Tarver could have won the first fight, If he was more active that really shocked me. When he got ko'd i thought my god he's definitely done now. Poor Jones came back gunshy and terrified of getting ko'd. Sort of like Wlad but without the massive size advantage. After getting ko'd by Johnson he really should have retired
It was pretty unthinkable at the time to be honest. I was utterly shocked and dismayed when it happened to Roy. If it happened to Mayweather I think I'd possibly have a major heart attack
Khan vs Presscott was really really strange. We all knew Khan was chinny and that he definatly had it coming off somebody. But nobody expected it from that night and for it to so dramatic and in the 1st round! It was weird we were at my brothers house with 2 of our mates and when it happened we went from absolute manic euphoria and happiness and ecstasy...to also feeling strangely quite sorry for him. It kept switching like that. I'd wanted him KO'd so badly and then it happened and I felt really bad for him
I was a platinum card carrying passenger on the P-Will P4P express train before that happened. I was devastated
I honestly thought Presscott was some bum with a padded record. I consider any boxer i don't know to be obscure! After the way they treated Barrera and Khan's general atttiude i certainly was always going to enjoy watching him lose. But not like That! Jesus he got obliterated
As far as a perfectly placed punch in the second round, yes it was similar. I think both KO's happened at nearly an identical time. As far as the perception of the fighter who lost, no. Paul Williams never sniffed the level RJJ was on prior to the KO. RJJ was simply faster, quicker, and more powerful than all of his opposition, and by a large margin. The man was largely considered unbeatable during his prime.
