What kind of sparring have you been doing my man? I agree that if you go to another gym to spar things can heat up...but I still dont intend to take my opponent's head off. When I spar in my gym, I usually go about 60-90%, depending on the quality of opposition I am sparring. Winning a sparring match shouldn't mean **** to anybody if they are a real boxer. They are suppose to work technique, their tactics, newly developed moves they have learned, combinations, etc. I agree with you saying that if a person spars for a while they have some ring experience...but you have to realize if they are in the gym sparring on a regular basis then usually the boxer has some amateur fights coming along with it.
I dont know if JCC Jr. has been sparring for years or not...but a sparring match and an actual match is not the same. Im sure if he was sparring and training on a regular basis he would have had some amateur fights. Sometimes the sparring session can be heated, and sometimes that can be a good thing...but it is different.

Yes I agree with you and you are very right. I didn't mean that those things are (exactly) the same. But kolya said that those things are ''completely different'' and I heavily disagree with that so I kind of responded with the opposite. Completely different to me is like ice-hockey and tennis.

I actually know of a few pros (vargas, flores, smith just for a few) who go off and on in sparring, as in one day they will go close to 100%, the next they might not, the next, 100% and so on and so forth...

vargas once told me, you wouldnt go 80% in a fight would you? then why would you practise at 80%

but he does understand you do have to work on things... thats why he has his 'off days' where he will do that... but he often spars at 100%. along with the others i mentioned.
