What was Joe Calzaghes hardest fight..

Joe himself made the Eubank fight tough because of his inexperience. He threw so many punches early in the fight that he knackered himself out before the championship rounds. He was young and it was the first time Joe had been anywhere near the full 12 so it's understandable. JC proved so many people wrong with that fight but it was Calzaghe's lack of control early that made the fight harder than it needed to be.

The Reid fight was different. He knew what 12 rounds was like and he had to do them again whilst getting clobbered by big right hands.

Joe was out on his feet by the end of the Eubank fight and it really he put him through the mental and physical mill. It was his toughest fight.

Yeah, I can't remember where I read about Joe being carried to take a ****. I have absorbed lots of info over the years but if I find the link again I'll post it up. What I was saying is he had to be carried because he couldn't walk properly, not that he couldn't ****!

I have a soft spot for Sonny. Damn shame how that guy's life turned out. Makes me sad.

 

according to joes autobiography the hardest was the eubank fight as he arrived to early and wasted to much energy before he got to the ring. The reid fight was his worse with marraiage problems, training not going well and all round motivation at his lowest as he was not enjoying boxing at this time, and he had problems with his hands

 

Something definitely wasn't right about his death. Very mysterious.

Liston was a very misunderstood character, similar in some ways to Tyson. I can't find it in my heart to dislike either man. Seems to me that Liston was very cautious when it came to trusting anyone. Look in his eyes and you can see he is a lonley person. Depression and drink brought out his bad side but I believe he could have turned himself around completely and made everyone proud. They never gave that poor sucker a chance, though.

Thanks again for the book suggestion. I'm not much of a book reader unless something really catches my interest, but I will definitely have a look for the book.
