Did anyone notice during the Pac-Margo fight, a comparison to Henry Armstrong's MW challenge of Ceferino Garcia came up, and Jim Lamplass seemed to be trying to imply that Pac's performance was the more impressive because "Armstrong faded late in the fight..." or something like that?

I have no idea what the hell Lamplass was referring to. Does this look like a fighter "fading down the stretch"??

Lampley is a moron who is constantly licking Pacquiao's balls. The more I hear of him the less I like him, so I try to tune him out. It would not surprise me though if he was trying to rip down greater fighters than Pacquiao trying to make Pac-Man seem better.

I noticed it too. He also said the same of the Robinson-Maxim fight which was also stupid of him as heat beat Robinson more than anything.

I seen that fight so many times, I think Jim might have pick the wrong fight.

Armstrong was just as busy in the final round as he was in round 1. also I think the draw was uncalled for. I had Armstrong way ahead.

Didn't he also say that Armstrong lost the fight?

The thing I was most offended with was how he was trying to make out that Margarito is a comparable opponent to Ceferino Garcia by implying that Armstrong didn't get the job done against Ceferino, whilst Pac was getting it done against Margarito.

Lampley's whole gimmick is being charmingly stupid. He's not a boxing historian and he was probably instructed to say that.

Pac didnt ko Margarito, and Armstrong failed to ko Garcia.

Outside of a ko, Armstrong got the job done, as much as Pac beat Margarito imo.

The judges robbed Armstrong of a win there. That fight was not close.

Armstrong should be considered a 4-div champ, IMO.

The fact is lampley makes a damn good living basically just to know boxing at this point..and the fact that he has plenty of time between fights..and the fact that he seems like he should be able to absorbe information at a level that is at least average..

given all this..its amazing how ****ing ignorant the guy is...christ if i was made a million or so a year..just to go to 1 or two fights once a month...i would know everything about every ****ing boxing living and dead. Guy is a real tardattack.

He was just making it up to support his point about smaller fighters tiring/losing against bigger men.

It's not his job to watch old boxing matches or know old facts. He has people supplying him information in his headset. Lampley is a voice and a character of HBO. To a casual boxing fan, any information about Henry Armstrong is absolutely useless, but the idea of Pacquiao tiring like he said Armstrong did and the fight becoming closer gives it more suspense.

HBO's commentary has just been awful in the last couple of years.

I really have to say that I prefer Showtime's boxing talk much better, unless HBO has Jones Jr. commenting(who should stop boxing and join the crew)
