showtime to me seemed a bit more jovial and seemed to actually enjoy the matches where as hbo made it look savage. the way lampley said in one fight how he was getting sprayed with blood the way he says it and the tone of his voice made it seem like. how can this mortal bleed on the crowd and paying public like that.
also early 90's showtime commentary is better than hbo now or before. ferdie pachenko was funny as **** before he became a embittered old man. cysz actually enjoyed the sport and wasnt looking it as a purely economical means to an end. tyson would show up and actually want to contribute instead of lummox. the back and fourth between the guys also was really entertaining.

hbo seem to care about the career not so much the fights in general.....my personal opinion

Agree Swarmer, Showtime are miles ahead at the minute.

Al Bernstein is past his peak but still good value and Antonio Tarver, although not always insightful, still has a clarity which comes over well.

Steward and Lampley are simply horrible on HBO. Kellerman makes the odd good comment, but there's simply no synergy between him and the others.

My biggest problem is their blatant bias and backing of a single candidate. I went to Alexander-Kotelnik in August in my hometown knowing it was going to be a robbery if Kotelnik won it on points. I went back home and listened to the commentary, made me furious. How can boxing be treated seriously when the biggest mouthpieces in the sport are overflowing with agenda-backed fecal matter? Seriously disgraceful, and now I'm inclined to watch their fights with mute on for a while. Even in Williams-Martinez they were slobbing on Paul's knob until he got sparked.

I respect Kellerman. He doesn't say much, but when he does he shows he's different than the others. He knows the lines he's being fed are bull****. He knows when a decision has been poorly manufactured and I respect him for saying it like it is the majority of the time.

Showtime's just been better with boxing overall, minus the huge cards that only HBO can get. It's just too bad about the S6. I hope their bantamweight tournament is as awesome as i think it will be.

    synergy, thats the word :good
hbo is led by a tennis commentator who runs the show well but you never get more than that, lamply and him work together well but both seem to come from different disciplines so they sometimes try to talk over each other. max.............nice guy talks well with his clunky accent but still seems like a jnr lampley. seems so forced and seems to speil out already made quotes. which he try's to finnish and talk over while 2 guys are winging it out. and manny steward even though very insightful just seems to wait till the fight is over to say what each fighter shoudl of done. lennox lewis...., and poor little harold.

oh i agree swarm but hbo is still pretty bais they support anc back there own interests just like showtime. i meant about the old showtime crew. ex pro's, historians, trainers and a front man to lead the topic of conversation.

    ok....what about atlas and tessitore?

The only boxer I didn't enjoy as a commentator was Sergio Mora. Bute-Brinkley was a disgrace.:-(

To be honest I really don't think Showtime show anywhere near the same level of bias. Even when they are backing a candidate they aren't delusional when he's losing the fight, nor do they make excessive excuses when their picked fighter takes a loss. They're much much superior at building boxing as a brand and the difference is starting to show.

Atlas and Tessitore are my favorite stand-up act.
As off the wall as Atlas in particular might be, FNF wouldn't be the same without him and i'd be sad if/when he leaves. Guy is hilarious.

again chemistry the atlas tessitore union worked pretty well. they had there own space and there own opinions and didnt mind shooting down each others. it didnt get nasty unlike the hbo team during soto - lorenzo or jones-griffin
that notorious augustus-burton post fight is a classic. both of them picked the whole commission apart

It is interesting how strongly Lampley has switched his allegiance to Pacquiao given that he was riding Cotto so hard in their fight that I thought they might be siring a child together.
