I feel we dont talk to much about Leonard that much here so i just wanted to see how many SRL fans we have here at ESB. Also if anybody has any good youtube clips of SRL feel free to post them because i havent been able to find some good ones. But back to my question, yeah what do you think were his best qualities?
Thats a very difficult question to answer IMO. Sugar Ray Leonard, in my eyes, was a 'jack of all trades' boxer. He could do it all, box/brawl, throw great combos, footwork was superb, chin and defence great, his ring generalship was superb, fought the best fighters. Just the complete package. I really hope we get to see another 'sugar' in the near future.
Your right man thats what i said to myself. He is so well rounded in his attributes. So its quite difficult to say what his best skill was.
He was great at a lot of things, but was probably most well known by his ability to finish guys, late-fight rallies, and probably most of all by his blindning handspeed
This is a very difficult question to answer but as the poster above me pointed out his ability to pick up the pace as the fight wore on is one attribute of his that made Leonard a special fighter and skills wise he simply had it all.
His best skill was probably his ability to finish guys off. His best talent of course was that sick handspeed he had.
Speed, power, stamina, movement and chin. The man had it all and could do it all, if he wanted to brawl he could successfully do it and if he wanted to box/outclass then he can do it too, sometimes be brought a mixture of both in fights and that could only be described as legendary. I think one thing that he's truly great at and is an underrated skill he had was his ability to finish off hurt opponents, when he got a man hurt and that man is still standing then you know a KO is coming very soon.
See, this type of talk has been happening FOR EVER... and yet people act like it's only a thing of today. On topic, people have pretty much covered everything. His handspeed, his flurrys, the ability to box AND brawl, his ability to pick up the pace as the fight wore on etc... One of the best fighters ever (arguably top 10, easily top 20, probably top 15)
