What was Manny's better performance against Marquez? 3rd fight or 4th fight.

I'd say he still performed better in the 4th. The two pushed each other much harder in the 4th and brought out their best, Marquez got tagged much more in those 6 rounds (hell, probably even just one or two of those rounds) than the whole 3rd fight. But the increase in competitive edge made it more difficult for each man, and Manny was the one winning on points. He won more rounds than he did in the 3rd, and while he took more damage, he also dished out more damage.

acually nacho said that he wasnt worried about the speed like he was preparing for the first fight. The only reason that he looked slower was because he was trying really hard to get that one punch to knock pacquiao out and he did.

jmm has never really solved pac's lead left, it's what messed up his face in their 3rd fight it's what floored him in their 4th fight. if pac doesn't get impatient or reckless and just keep tagging jmm with it...it should be a clear ud.

...and to topic, pac seems more motivated on the 4th and he did better.

Ignoring the final few seconds is to ignore the whole fight, as that punch was set up and a result of everything that came before it.

I agree they pushed each other and forced a war out of each other.

It was the easiest fight to score ever, and Manny was up by a whopping 1 point.

I disagree that Pac won more rounds in the 4th. He won 3 rounds in the 4th fight (1, 2, and 5). He won at least 4 rounds in the 3rd fight (I think it was 4 rounds exactly; I haven't seen many people who I find neutral to say that Pac won less than 4 rounds although there are a few).

I think I just showed you that you CAN ignore the last few seconds and still provide constructive criticism. Bogo did the same.

And no, that punch was not a set-up of everything that came before it. More like a bait-then-counter really.
It was a well timed punch that was a result of JMM being a master at timing Pac's 1-1-2 combo. It was JMM simply being the master counterpuncher that he is.
As a matter of fact, he hit Pac with the same punch in round 4 or 5, only Pac's footing was a lot more stable then, so it didn't have the same impact as that of round 6's KO punch.

EDIT: Found a pic of the punch:

If you want a "set-up punch" then you should be looking at round 3's KD.
JMM tagging the body and then faking another before quickly moving upstairs to hit Pac square in the chin is an example of a well-setup punch.

If you don't want to "ignore the last seconds" then you shouldn't be posting in a thread that very clearly implores you to do so.

Pacquiao landed loads of punches in rounds 5 and 6 but in order to do so abandoned his defense in not keeping his gloves up and not keeping his feet planted and risked getting tagged back while his body was out of place, all the while burning his stamina/energy seemingly more than Marquez had blown his. He got KO'd as a result of the way he was fighting through 18 minutes... How is that not a set up and result of everything that happened beforehand? It clearly is.

This, it's always a case though where you see one fighter looking less in many ways and you wonder if that was more the difference maker than an improvement from one of the fighters. I mean, Pac tried shifting angles and landing that left but Marquez almost always seemed in tune to what Pac was doing and a step ahead when needed to prevent that sort of thing in their 3rd encoutner. In the 4th fight, however, Marquez looked stuck in cement in comparison at times and that may have distorted our perceptions to a large degree about Pac's refinements, adjustments, or sharpness.

That's not the way I see it at all.
Manny was looking far more fresh than JMM at the time of the stoppage (although blood flowing through JMM's nose is a huge factor here).

If you think it was simply a "one-time-mistake due to abandoning his defense" on Manny's part that his feet wasn't planted well then you don't understand the dynamics of Manny's offense.
That's how he fights. Tired or not. That's how he attacks.
His stance, by itself, is a joke (see how square his stance is) in a traditional sense.
But that stance enables Manny to quickly, and almost too smoothly, deliver a quick lead left or a 1-1-2.
Also, those seemingly out-of-of balanced punches enables Manny to quickly move out of range after delivering a combo, all the while trying to land again on a square stance, to be able to quickly deliver another quick attack through a smooth transition from moving out of range to being on the aggressive again.
I can post clips and photos to show you what I mean but I ain't as dedicated as Bozo so I'll leave the rest to you.

Also, as I've said and shown, that wasn't the first time in the fight that it happened, nor was it the first time JMM connected with that punch throughout their rivalry (I can find pics but am too lazy at the moment).

So again, no, it was not a "set up" punch in its strictest sense.
A setup punch is what JMM did on round 3.
It was simply a well timed counter from a master counter puncher against an enemy he knows all too well.

I don't disagree with hardly anything you've said, but I feel you just made my point for me in saying that he had landed that exact same punch a couple times in the fight. That shows he was setting it up.

After an exchange, JMM inched backwards, let Manny charge in and throw his own set up jab to open up (what would have likely been hook combinations coming from the waist). JMM then dipped his head to the side and threw a straight right to the face. I'd say he set it up.

And yes I'm well aware of Manny's offense. I've referred to him as having an "ATG offensive motor" multiple times, but have long called him a caveman for the way he fights. That's the risk you run and I was not surprised that someone put him to sleep. If he was ever to get stopped, that was the way it was going to happen.

The way he was fighting for 18 minutes led to the way the fight ended. Period. While one could say that about every single fight, this one applies far more than most.

Fourth fight for me. JMM was having serious trouble with that Pacquiao.
