What was more impressive, Khan or Hatton vs Malinaggi?

Not that much in it to be honest. Hatton did a good job too.

Khan was actually sloppy for quite a few rounds. His jab was outstanding all night and was probably the key to breaking Paulie down but he wasn't finding the right hand as well as he'd have liked and sometimes he bumrushed in with it. Could have looked for the body more when the right hand was missing.

 

Spot on. Theres been big improvements when you compare the kotelnik fight to this though. Firstly not fighting so scared lol, sitting down on his punches more (no arm punching). And wow his accuracy has doubled from 20% to 40% connects even though both opponents are not the easiest to catch clean. They knew what went wrong in the kotelnik fight and have addressed it brilliantly and am sure theyle be doing the same with the over-reaching etc that happend in this ine. The sloppyness was partly due to nerves n pressure as well but once khan got into his stride, there was no problems.

 

It is easy to 'not fight scared' against someone with no ko power whatsoever with no danger of being hurt. Lets see how scared he is against an opponent who is capable of knocking him out or hurting him badly at the very minimum. With that said, he is improving all the time.

 

This is untrue. He has been put down by light punchers before, with a vulnerable chin there is ALWAYS a chance of being hurt so that would not be the sole reason to 'not fight scared'. Look at Prescott debacle, he was not scared then, he wanted to go straight in.

 

Khan obviously did a good job last night, but it was plain to see that Hatton made very little attempt to stop Paulie, and carried him just to show off the new skills he beiieved Mayweather Snr had given him...

If Hatton had of fought his usual style he would have murdered Malignaggi in a few rounds, let's be honest. He was throwing him around the ring. Paulie has a problem with Hatton because Hatton humilated him, whilst taking it easy.

 

hattons win was more imprerssive considering the intangables, Khan had everythign over Pauliem speed skill power etc

Plus he fought a Paul;ie that was molested by cotto and hatton


Hatton with his short arms and less skill etc totally dominated Malinagi, gave him a good stomping that hurts Paulie to this day , thats why he hates hatton LOL

 

I'm going to say Khan. I think the version of Paulie that Khan fought, coming off of one of his best wins, was better than the one that Hatton fought, who had struggled with N'dou and Ngoudjo and was having problems with McGirt. Hatton's stoppage was BS, Khan's was legitimate

 

The Hatton fight was more impressive given that Hatton boxed impressively to a virtual shut out. It was just a more exciting fight all round, even if it was one sided.

The Khan fight was a bit boring in places to be honest with the much bigger man simply toying with his smaller, light handed opponent in much the same way a cat toys with a mouse.

 

Khan and easy call....This is coming from a hatton fan....

Hatton gets full credit for that win, but that was a "off night" for paulie....and he also never let his hand fully heal from n'dou 2, but went ahead to get the pay-day....The hatton-pac fight proved that malignaggi was "off" angainst ricky...I remember reading how hatton was the best he had ever looked, then boom gone in 2 against manny...paulie said right after that fight hatton would get killed against manny, days after the fight...he was right

Khan got a motivated malignaggi that was coming off one of his best wins....Paulie said himself after the fight he had a good camp this time....I also thought he was more mentally in the fight than the hatton fight....

Khan's win was much better...

Hatton-Pac just proved that Pac is a much better fighter than Hatton or Mallinaggi.

Any half decent version of Hatton would beat the best version of Mallinaggi, having an "off night" doesn't come into it.

 

True, I do rank hatton's win against malignaggi his most underrated win, because he was so complete....and paulie went on twice? to beat juan, making hatton's win that much better on his resume....

but comparing it to khan and the circumstances I give the edge to khan's performance..

 

I've always thought that Hatton was just a bad style matchup for Paulie. Against a swarmer like Hatton usually a fighter either needs the legs to outbox them or a punch to "keep them honest" on the way in. Paulie didn't have either and it made for a long night for him.

 

Cotto had the power and boxing skills to beat paulie....Hatton had superb footwork all thru out his carear all the way to the end.....Hatton was able to manhandle PM because he was a master of cutting off the ring, and paulie bases everything off his movement.....that's why hatton beat the **** out of him....

 

i think some people are possibly going a bit over the top with khan's win. he demonstrated a phenomenal jab but there was still a lot lacking from his performance. i know paulie wasnt covering his head too well so khan was going for the head and connecting a lot, but i would have liked to have seen more cominations with body shots. khan is quite 1-dimensional. watching it i was beginning to feel like he was the LWW vlad.
