here is a fighter that judged by his wins, showed potential for a great legacy. but his losses draws alot of questions.

what led him to his losses against less popular opponents like orlin norris and mike hunter?

Lethargic, low work rate, mental instability...otherwise he's just fine.

I agree...he just wasn't anything special. Very tough yes, but not very good really. Maybe he suffered from 'sparring partner' syndrome.

Aside from that, he was basically one-dimensional. His whole game was basically just to catch you with his right hand.

Focus. Ollie didn't have his head on straight most days.

Ironically I think currently he's the most stable and well-adjusted mentally he's ever been, it's just that his physical prime has been and gone already.

Ah, the late bounty hunter was a cult classic among fans. His son Mike Hunter jr is the best super heavyweight in the USA amateur program.

As for McCall, his main weakness was lack of focus, lack of agression, late round stamina, and average skills.

Oliver Mcall was not the greatest fighter. He had a good solid chin, size and a decent jab. Other than that, he delivered his punches with his eyes closed and his overall skills were pretty limited. A good sturdy chin an some determination can get you pretty far in the division and he had that.
In my opinion he was never a world class level fighter, top ten contender yes.
