Blocking punches with his face, unitl Vitali got tired from beating on him and fell over from exhaustion?

To evade Vitali's jabs with head movement, get on the inside and land big sweeping punches to back of Vitali's head and knock him out. He did not bargain on such a powerful jab, left hooks and left uppercuts. By the time he tasted those, he forgot where he was...

It was surely to try and get close?!

He didn't do it too well. He couldn't cut off the distance effectively at all hence he was stuck at the end of Vitali's reach all night. He just didn't have the speed, conditioning, know how or skill to achieve that.

Peter isn't going to outbox klitschko. His only hope was to cut klitschko or injure klitschko...Most people who thought peter would win thought that is how he'd win.

Tried to get close and was actually attempting to outbox Klitschko even though his corner told him to quit doing it. Sam was just fighting completely wrong, not that it would have been different if he did anything else, Vitali was just too determined tonight and showed up the way I didn't expect him to. Full credit to Vitali for completely shutting off Peter and whatever plan he had, he just made Peter look like he wasn't in the fight at all as early as the first round till the end.

To execute a gameplan against Vitali that would make any sense, Peter would need to be 25 pounds lighter and devote a training camp to speed, lateral movement and trying to mimick Tyson as closely as he possibly could. Instead, Peter needs training camps just to move from obesity to in mediocre shape. That's why I predicted that Vitali's ring rust would not be a factor, because Vitali can actually train for fights while Peter always has to train to be in shape for actual boxing training.

i could not see any gameplan what so ever, it was disgraceful a fighter of his caliber would come into such a fight without having a proper gameplan

if his gameplan was to stay close to him (which is his only option) he failed very badly
he should of kept his work rate up and been literaly ontop of vitali the whole fight it is the only way he would of had a chance

Eat one to land none i believe. It seems he completely underestimated Vitali, he probably assumed he could just walk through Vitali and make things messy in close, with a few overhand rights. Obviously this wasn't going to work as Vitali avoided the clinch all night and kept at range.

Peters plan fell through when he discovered his opponent had strange appendages coming out of each shoulder which due to some sick twist of fate ,he could control range with. In all seriousness, i don't think Sam utilises much in the way of a gameplan, and the plan he did have went out the window after round 1 when it was obvious Vitali was able to toy with him from range.

They thought Vitali will run out of gas and be easier to catch as the fight goes but Vitali showed no signs of that, if anything he was throwing more and more. Peter just lost hope.

To walk forward very slowly throwing the odd punch. The exact same thing he does in every fight.

He seemed to think boxing from range played into his strengths

He had a gameplan of getting inside and landing. Pretty obvious what a shorter, powerful fighter's gameplan is against a real big opponent.

But Vitali's effectiveness made Peter's game plan ineffective, as Peter, try as he did, couldn't get inside. And when he did, he couldn't reach Vitali with his lean back defense style.

But Peter did land one solid, flush right hand. I did recall that. Caught him flush.

Yeah i think he lost any will and confidence to win pretty early after Vitali started strong. To be honest Vitali is just on a level above Peter, and then its topped off by Vitali being an absolutely terrible stylistic matchup for Peter. Vitali is essentially his cryptonite in terms of style.

Tall, rangey, good timing with an awkward jab - kept at distance the whole fight and avoided the clinch. Its easy to see with hindsight obviously, but that was just a fight Peter could never win.
