My point is you put him in with 95% of the guys on Planet Earth below 145 and they are getting KO'd, 3% make it closer but still lose badly, 1% make it really close and could win, 1% probably beat him...the bottom line is there are a few based on style that could make him look like that...but it doesn't change what would happen in all the other fights. You have people claiming Marquez or Gamboa shred him based on that fight...I don't recall ever seeing either one fight that way. Hold, spoil, run...JMM? When one doesn't do that, then what happens...who knows, what I do know is that Rios is still a motha****er of a fight for anybody 145 down, unless they plan to incorporate the same bull**** tactics and style.
I wouldn't expect any fighter get into a slugfest with a slugger, but there are legal, more efficient ways to do that...the guy that beat Katsidas on FNF's as an example, he didn't hold and spoil, he used good defense, movement, and counter punching. This is off track though, my point is Rios is what he was before that fight, one of the best fighters in the world below 145 lbs, there are very few guys who can do the **** Abril did, and be remotely effective (credit to him for that).
Honestly I didn't see the fight but ppl be throwing that word (exposed) around like a mutha****a. Its like saying Dirrell exposed Abraham. Or **** like that. Styles make fights. Add to that his kid is destroying his body by trying to make a weight he's too big for. What did happen was expose those ppl that say they know about boxing, pick this certain fighter to win and then say he was exposed when the whole time the opponent had the style to beat him.
I thought people always knew Rios was a *****... But nevertheless, Rios is not a lightweight, no wonder he drains himself and under-performs. And at light welter I see him get busted up by L.Peterson, Khan, Matthyse, probably even Maidana... Rios's future looks bleak unless Arum can continue to give Rios gift decisions
I think its funny too when fighters are "exposed" when they are doing what they usually do. Its like some people expect these guys to be invincible. Rios, Margarito, Angulo, guys like are never thought to be intelligent boxers so when they lose to one if anything its expected. Martinez is another example. People were saying he was exposed because he relys solely on him athleticism and speed even though he has always fought the same way since his first televised fight. When has he ever been considered technically great.
A fighter with no plan B. He just doesn't have the ability to adapt, he's got no legs to give that mobility to manuver and set traps. The leg issue could be because of the weight draining, so we'll have to see how he does at 140. I would like to see a rematch at 140 with Abril, see what's up.
he got exposed as a fat **** who doesnt have the professionalism to at least make weight. bet he hangs out often with his cousin joan guzman:dead
i hate that ****ing word too its along the same mentality as glass jaw bum for everyone who has suffered a knockout...and those who somehow never mention ****ed up judging..just the promoter who obviously handed them pre filled out score cards
he couldnt deal with a boxer who didnt stand in front of him and trade. He had no answer. and since when was Rios that good anyway.
