People say it some type of PED so my question is what PEDs were available in the mid 80s that could be drank in water and not show up in a post fight drug test?

I'd be willing to bet it was cocaine in the water, it's water soluble. Plus he loved the booger sugar...

It was just like Popeye eating a can of spinach.

Pryor proved his greatness from the amateur s on. Yet you idiots insist on denying it andv saying people like Haley of Mamby beat him. If you cant see his greatness then give the sport up. You cannot evaluate great from good. From his assinine Duran threads we already know this of pernsweatpea. Dont be like that

I never said Duran was not great. You guys have a hard time understanding points. If someone says he is the best ever, that was my argument. I never argued he was not great, but greatest ever is much different than great. A great fighter can have bad style matchups.. The greatest ever? He beats all styles and can do anything. Moving up and still dominate.

    Probably either coke or amphetamines.

Yeah, I think that's what Luis Resto said it was that Panama Lewis gave him, so it was likely the same for Pryor.

He doesn't have to be a coke addict for the shady Lewis to give it to him.

Lewis was willing to take the padding out of Restos gloves to gain a competitive edge.

It's not a stretch to surmise he would put an illegal stimulant in Pryors bottle.

And somebody doesn't become a drug addict in one night. Lol.

I agree ephedrine is also a possibility.

    It makes you super alert.

We used to take those pills in college and you could drink more as it countered the effects of the alcohol.

There weren't postfight drug tests. So, basically anything you can think of.

Pryor is one of my 10 favourite fighters of all time and Arguello-Pryor 1 is my favourite ever fight. I think Pryor was a great fighter, but it doesn't seem reasonable to think that there was nothing at all in the bottle. I don't personally believe it was cocaine but there was likely some kind of stimulant and even if it truly was peppermint schnapps as Panama Lewis said (which I highly doubt because he said it), then it was an illegal substance.

How much of an impact it had on his performance in the 14th round though is impossible to say. I like to think it didn't and give Pryor the full credit he deserves for the win. He was just drinking what was in the bottle so he's not automatically complicit in my view. And I don't think he needed anything extra to win.
