What was supposedly in the water that Aaron Pryor's trainer gave him

This is just an emotional rant and has nothing to do with the question asked by the OP.

    Pryor was a great fighter.

But the known illegal criminal behavior of his trainer in attempting to gain a competitive advantage for his fighter in a bout in the same time period, Pryor's known love of illegal stimulants, the between rounds audio that picks up Lewis saying "..No, the one I mixed special.." and the eye test - Pryor bolted from his corner in the 14th round and couldn't miss a punch after being lethargic and taking punishment in the 13th Round - make it a legitimate question worthy of rational discussion by those able to put personal feelings aside.

If Pryor needed Coke or Speed to deal with Arguello what got him through the first 13 rounds? He wasnt doing badly.

It is a legit question but I think too much has been made of it because Arguello was such a beloved figure. The way Pryor destroyed him made his fans sad and some may not accept the outcome. So emotions go both ways on this issue.

Problem here is, we don't know that he didn't take something before the fight even began. I haven't looked at every round, but it might have been given on the DL before it was done at the end of the fight? Too many unknowns, but what is known, is that it wasn't water and anything but water is illegal.

Your right. Could be that Panama Lewis mixed whatever it was and Pryor was oblivious to it.

    It doesn't matter really.

If it was anything other than water, it was cheating period!

How long has that rule been in effect? The oldtime trainers used to give their fighters Brandy in the corner. A small amount would stimulate the heart without intoxicating. Monsell's solution was being used years after it was banned.

They did have drug tests for this fight. After the fight Pryor waited for an hr in his dressing room to take it but the messed up Miami commission never showed so he left. That is a look up for yourself fact.

Now, to the princess amongst us. Do you hear that rustling in the wind outside? That is Matthew Saad Muhammad trying to break the 7th wall and return from heaven to pummel Saad54 for soiling his name with his ever more moronic posts. CHANGE THE NAME MAN. YOU ARE DISGRACING A GREAT. You are actually perfect for Czyz69. Or Cooney41. Maybe Broner 13. These are the fighters you write like and represent best. Let poor great Saad rest in peace. He has earned it. You

Actually I and some others went back checking the history of yr posts and believe you Saad54 and Markant are the same poster, yet working under different names. I'm sure this happens a lot but SaadAnt we are on to you. Just stop dragging Matthew's rep through yr own personal sewage.

Lol I won’t interfere with your personal squabble as entertaining as it is. But Saad has some high quality takes in a lot of threads, and one of my favorite posters. he does not copy and paste other people’s thoughts as his own, or create a mountain of threads with no real point....and if that does not give it away, his use of complete sentences and grammar and punctuation should seal the deal.

Not the same person not even from the same planet

Anyone ever see Pryor as an amateur? He was quite the star even before turning pro...

    Deja vu.

I feel like this exact video has been posted before.

    That said,

yes, Pryor was a great Amateur and gave Howard Davis all he could handle, while also beating Hearns.
