MARQUEZ vs pacquiao 1 or HOPKINS vs pascal both got knocked down a number of times and were way down with alot of fight time to go i gotta go with hopkins, being in pascals country, 46 and less time to turn things around going into the 4th behind, rather than marquez going into 2nd way behind what you guys think
I'd say the Marquez fight was a bigger turnaround because he got almost knocked unconscious by Pacquiao's illegal shot when he was down. Who would've though at that point the guy's gonna come back and win like 9 rounds? Of course Hopkins has the age in the arument, bur the 1st KD wasn't even legit in my book and the 2nd was a flash KD, so he didn't have to dig that deep.
Off-Topic: That reminds me that boxing is sometimes full of ****, because of hometown or just stupid decisions, but fighters coming back from two or even three knockdowns and winning nearly every later round, or even coming back from two knockdowns to win through TKO - ya all boxing lovin' brothers know what fight I mean - is just great and terrific to watch. There is no other sport like boxing and there are no other athletes like boxers. To say so, I can't decide which is better, both are great fights, with great comebacks and controversial decisions. I'm just trying to get rid of those negative vibrations, because of the recent robbery discussions and so on...
Both Hopkins and Marquez won. Marquez by one or two rounds, Hopkins I scored 116-111 (rounds 1 & 3 10-8, round 2 10-10). I'd say Marquez was the better comeback because Pacquiao is a top 35 all timer while Pascal is nothing special at all.
Marquez's comeback was better. He was down three times, much more seriously hurt, and fought an infinitely better fighter in Pacquiao. Hopkins was more deserving of a win based on points, since I scored Pac-JMM 1 114-113 in favor of Manny. But there was enough swing rounds that I wouldn't have complained one bit if JMM got the decision.
You'd have to think its a lot easier to comeback against Jean Pascal than Manny Pacquiao. That being said, Hopkins coming back at his age gives his performance an extra element, and I felt he came back to win, which i can't say for Marquez.
Pacquiao was the better opponent, hurt Marquez more with legitimate knockdowns, and Marquez had a bigger hill to climb in overcoming three of them. Hopkins comeback with his age was impressive but Marquez overcame the bigger challenge. Both won in my opinion.
Due to the quality of opposition, Marquez’ comeback was easily better. He was facing a guy – Pacquiao - who was fighting ferociously to the end, unlike Pascal, who was bamboozled from round 4 onwards. Hopkins was more worthy of the win because he controlled Pascal more than Marquez controlled Pacquiao. But again, this was due to the class of opposition.
