I would add Tyson vs Douglas and Sullivan vs Corbett to the list (first time heavyweight title changed hands in a fight under Marquess of Queensberry Rules). Both were big upsets too.

No, Tyson v Douglas didn`t have many viewers it was meant to just be a tune up for the far bigger Holy v Tyson fight, everybody thought Tyson would destroy Douglas so there was little interest before that fight.

No Foreman was a huge star when Ali beat him Holmes was pretty unknown to the general public when Ali fought him, Ali was a huge underdog v Foreman.

Most people in Europe don`t know much about Floyd or Mannny, 90% of people I know has heard of either of them.

By which criteria? Think it has to be between Louis vs Schmeling, Burns vs Johnson or Ali vs Frazier FOTC. Gone between the three a few times but historically given the wider stakes and symbolism involved I voted Louis vs Schmeling. But equally want to say Burns vs Johnson or FOTC too!

    Good question and thread idea.

Ali vs Fraizer 1 in terms of historical purposes

Ali vs Foreman in terms of globally and the finances.

It's The Rumble In The Jungle for me.

I just never expected that outcome. Ali stopping Foreman....

No one seriously saw that one coming prior to the start of the bout.

I remember at the time De La Hoya vs. Mayweather felt huge. I recall watching this promo video. Really helped hype up the fight.
