Jones became Champ in 2003 if Im not mistaken.
Tyson had 1 half decent performance(Bruno 2), since 1991(Ruddock), and even then he stopped fighting the way he should after Spinks in 88.

Wouldve been a huge commercial sell though your right about that, and a pick em fight by that stage.

    Lewis v Vitali 2.
    Lewis v Bowe
    Tyson v Bowe
Liston v Foreman(Foreman was a sparring partner at some point)

With all due respect, there was never any clamoring for that fight during that time. Up until he caught Moorer with that punch, Big George's comeback was always looked at as more of a curiousity and human interest story than serious attempt.

And even though he repped himself well against Holyfield, people gave Holyfield tons of crap for making that fight.

As a matter of fact, Foreman then was viewed somewhat how Holyfield continuing to fight now is looked at. Even if Holyfield managed to win a strap, no one wants to see him in there Vitali.

    Just my thoughts.

They were put on the same card in 1990. Tyson-Tillman, Foreman-Rodriguez. Naturally, there was talk about the two of them fighting. Foreman had been talking awhile about how he felt he'd beat Tyson. Foreman was fed mostly soft opposition, the only contender on his ledger being Rodriguez (who Holyfield had recently stretched). Nevertheless, he promoted himself well as the lovable cheeseburger eater and was very popular.

After putting up a respectable effort against Evander, he got more credibility, and of course, winning the title.

Regardless, if Tyson-Foreman had fought anywhere during this period, it would've been a huge, huge event. They were the two biggest box office draws in boxing. Foreman was so popular he even had a sitcom, LOL, in addition to those damn tire commercials.

As an Irish man,I always think its a pity Steve Collins-Roy Jones Junior never happened, after Collins beat Eubank and Benn.

I once heard from an old cat that marciano retired to duck liston but ppl also told me liston was just coming up and marciano wouldnt even know who he was. I wish chavez and leonard were closer in size. That would have been huge. No doubt leonard would win but that would be a huge promotional fight.

Are you serious, this was the biggest fight that did not happen. Aaron Pryor obscure:huh He was the Pacquiao of his Era and Leonard was the Mayweather of his. Do your research?

Nobody gave any serious consideration to a fight between Big George and Iron Mike. Infact, Larry Holmes- George Foreman would have been considered a bigger fight, during either stage of George Foreman's careers.
