On of the best fights i ever saw! :goodI owe half my boxing knowledge to Sky Sports growing up as a kid. They used to show so many more and better fights back then it seems than what they show now

    Leonard-Hearns I

  4. i was going to say it was the 2nd cooper vs clay fight, however i'm not 100% sure if it was live or much later as a replay.
the one i can quite clearly recall is the bonavena vs ali fight.

OK Stevie, Just like you i recall all the Henry Cooper/Billy Walker/Jack Bodell & the Tomasini & Bugnar fights but the one that really sticks in my head has to be the Frazier/Foreman fight when i was 16 years old:yikes:yikes

We all knew who Smokin Joe Frazier was but Foreman? jeezus i recall it like yesterday just watching this monster bouncing around the ring before the 1st bell then bouncing Joe all over it:smoke

Yeah ! When I read that Frazier had signed to fight Foreman,I remember thinking "oh it's that bloke from the Mexico Olympics..." and i thought that Frazier was bottling out of giving Ali a rematch. But,what a sensation..! Seeing Frazier being treated like a human yo-yo. Then Norton upsetting Muhammad two months after that. The heavyweight scene was turned inside out. Billy Walker was pretty entertaining.

    That is easy for me...Oct.12,1942....
as a youngster my father who took me to all Golden Gloves events, took me to my first
pro fight..Young Beau Jack vs tough Terry young, friend of Rocky Graziano...what a war
that was...Beau jack was the most action fighter i have ever seen, when young.
bolos, uppercuts, hooks crosses landed on tough Terry , who fought back with courage.
This fight took place at St. nicholas Arena...
Two months later my dad took me to MSG for the first time to see Beau Jack ko classy
Tippy Larkin...beau Jack would have bombarded floyd Mayweather at their best in my
opinion...beau had too many bullets for floyd to avoid, IMO...

It was either a Tyson or Ali fight. Don't remember which one. Of course I wasn't born when they were in their primes lol.

Floyd Patterson-George Chuvalo...and I had to battle to watch that fight because my Uncle kept wanting to change the channel to see some damned basketball game.

    Joe Calzaghe vs Sakio Bika.

Although the next night I watched Hagler vs Leonard and boxing was sold, then that Wednesday my Dad showed me Hagler vs Hearns. By then boxing had itself a new hardcore fan.

My first one that I clearly remember was James Toney-Hasim Rahman I.

My dad (who has been a boxing fan since the 60's) pointed me in the direction of watching guys like Hagler, Marciano, Foreman, and Lopez to see some good, exciting fights. After watching Hagler-Hearns and Foreman-Lyle I was hooked.
