The first one that made an impact on me was Barry McGuigan versus Eusabio Pedroza - for a Brit that fight was bigger than big and the atmosphere was absolutely electric - an amazing night and fight that made the Clones Cyclone a hero on these shores - bit like Hatton-Tzsuu - the first heavyweight match that got me was Joe Bugner versus Frank Bruno - the build up to that one was brilliant - Bugner really wound Bruno never saw anyone get Bruno that mad since nit even Lennox

The first fight I can actually remember watching was the ear bite fight with Tyson - Holyfield. I was 12 at the time, and I probably watched some of the earlier Tyson fights, but I can't remember.

I didn't actually start to follow boxing until 2006, so I missed a lot.

The first PRO main event I ever saw was the new sensation Beau Jack fighting a local tough guy Terry Young at St Nicholas Arena. As a tot my dad took me to many Golden Gloves bouts in NY. Some GG cards would have 20 or more bouts, those days. But to sit as a youngster above the Ring at St. Nicks and watch a young Beau Jack throw clusters of every punch invented against the tough east Side Terry Young [who was a pal of Rocky Graziano],who fought Beau Jack to a standstill was an experience and eye ooener for a kid as myself, and I was HOOKED on boxing. Beau Jack , to this day was the most action packed fighter I have ever seen. And the fans agreed with me for Beau sold out MSG SEVEN times in ONE YEAR. Too darn bad that today there is but ONE film of Beau Jack, on the slide against the great LW Ike Williams, in Philly which I attended, and Beau Jack came mighty close to losing his life when a negligent ref allowed the helpless
Beau Jack to absorb dozens of blows, whilst being helpless against the ropes. ESB posters would have taken the prime Beau Jack into their hearts, as I did....

    A good question.

    Ali-Lyle.

I was 7, watching with my parents in South Chicago on ABC, and fell asleep before the end of the match.

Lyle scared me a little but, as I was taken to bed, I felt sympathy for him, as--in a fog--I learned that the fight had ended with something bad happening to him.
