What was the main reason we didn't see De la Hoya/Trinidad 2?

    DLH.

Tito wanted 50-50 or something close to that, greedy DLH wanted the lions share as usual even though he was the one that needed the fight. Similar situation to Hopkins-RJJ 2, with Hopkins' ego refusing to let RJJ take 60-40, even though Hopkin's was the one who needed to avenge his loss.

Later on when DLH was running out of fights and Tito's stock had fallen Oscar wanted to make the fight again but only if he could drain Tito back down to 154. Tito said it had to be 160 or no fight, so it was no fight.

    Partially.

    No...

They agreed the winner's promoter would be the Top Promoter of a rematch. Top Rank and DLH renegged on that. the begiining of DLH's MO in boxing...

Are al the Calzaghe fans as obsessed with Hoipkins as much as you are? :huh

Isn't is odd one of Joe C's best wins, if not the best, came vs. a former MW?

ODLH schooled Trinidad badly and won the first match with ease, prooving he was the better fighter.
So there was no point in making a rematch, right?

Sensative? Nothing to be sensative about. Especially when it comes to your posts. You're just the UK version of a Fanboy who roots for their own.

You give Hopkins grief for fighting guys who've moved up, yet that's what Joe C's top oppnent is, a guy who moved up. Try a little consistency is all.

Depends really, the result was controversial but the fight was boring so why rematch? Kinda like hopkins and joe. It was controversial but it was boring.

Basically DLH wanted the rematch on his terms and all the advantages, failing to recognise Trinidad held all the cards already having the W over him.

Tito seemingly unhappy at having to accept $10 million while Oscar took home $25+ million for their first fight, was never going to allow Oscar to do that again to him.

I remember the fight was discussed numerous times.

Straight after their fight Team Trinidad and Don King said they would take an immediate rematch only if the roles were reversed in negotiations and Trinidad was garaunteed $20 million.

Then after Tito had blitzed his way into the jr middleweight division, Oscar wanted the fight only at 147 or a 150 catchweight. Trinidad insisted on 154 or no lower than 152 and a 50-50 split.

After Trinidad had fought at 160 and above Oscar then wanted the fight at 154, but Trinidad couldn't get down that low and still inisisted on 50-50.

And lastly when both were right at the end of their careers Oscar entertained the idea of fighting Tito at 160 as he was desperate for an opponent after Mayweather had pulled out of their rematch. Tito's dad said Tito could only get down to 165 and they would do it at that weight for the 50-50 split they'd always insisted on.
