Zarate was WBC champ and Zamora was WBA champ but the fight wasn't a unification battle for some reason. Anyone know why?

Huge one in Britain was Cooper/Clay 1.

I think it was the WBA who refused to sanction it intitially.

From my opinion, both were champs but the organisations did not allow to defend against each other

Lionel Rose vs Jose Medal in LA might have been of interest in the day. This is a Lionel bout I've not looked into at all.. Pretty sure Ruben Olivares and Chu Cho Castillo faught different opponents on the same card..

The public eye may have been to see Lionel vs Medal, especially with Lionel above the Bantam limit.. non-title fight!!

I don't if it was the most anticipated, but it was probably one of the few fights in the history of the game in which two non-titlists were battling over the right to be called the best fighter in the world.

I'm pretty sure it's the one I mentioned in page one, but I'm too drunk.
