And in this thing, Foreman failed the test of stamina imo.

To watch George attempt the Ali shuffle, or whatever the hell that little dance thing he did was. One of the most ungraceful things I've ever seen.

George became unhinged after Zaire and this 5 man circus of his was one of the most embarrassing events ever stage in the confines of a boxing ring. He should have just pulled his **** together..kinda "sucked it up" so to speak and just worked on his stamina and taken on real opponents in real fights one after the other like Joe Louis did after thed Schmeling defeat in '36. The clownish **** he did prior to the 2nd Frazier fight in '76 was also embarrassing...when, to commemorate the nations bicentennial he and Frazier dressed up as Betsy Ross, Washington and various other historical figures as a buildup to the fight. I think it's a good thing that Jimmy Young beat him in '77 and he retired because his head wasn't screwed on too tight at the time..he needed a decade to grow up and get his **** together and become the lovable bald fat man who, nonetheless, had none of the stamina issues his younger self had.

It did nothing for him really except make him look foolish. He briefly comments on it here:

half baked idea. it would oflooked great if he didnt look so unhinged and tried too much to get the knockout. charlie polite in the last round humiliated him.

it just did nothing for nobody

Why did George act like he was going to knock out Ali. Those punches he was throwing were sloppy and were doing damage and hurting Ali but I don't think Ali had any idea of going down :huh
George would be able to do it if he had the same shot that Frazier had, when he threw that left hook.

what the hell are you guys talking about?

Why is something like this so frowned upon? Is it the "right" thing to do to call this a circus act?

It wasnt a traditional boxing match, but it was an excellent display of a mans boxing skills. Foreman defeated all 5 of those opponents, and crushed them. I thought it was an awesome display.

And whoever posted that video of the 5th opponents, saying Foreman got humiliated, is really not too smart.

Foreman did what all the old timers did.Put on exhibitions for money.Just read on this classic forum how Fitz knocked out 19 guys in one night.Do you really think those guys were real fighters.Dempsey,Fitz,Corbett etc made their money with fighting bums without risking the title. The key to making money was to stay champion as long as you could, without defending it.Foreman just put on exhibition fights that's all.
