What was the reason for Mayorgas' intense hatred for Oscar de la Hoya?

Hi all, I reckon anyone who gives punchers like Vernon Forrest and Felix Trinidad a free shot or two at hitting them on the chin like Mayorga did can say what he likes about anyone joe is fighting. In reality I always thought he had a twinkle in his eye when he was talking smack.

I reckon Ricardo gets a bit underrated as in his prime at 147, he was a bit of a handful. He was one of if not the strongest welterweight I have seen fight ( Griffith was another one straight off the top of my head who was real strong ) and unorthodox to boot. He had a really shifty right hand. He threw it from all kinds of crazy angles.
He was a non trainer and a party animal so once he got some decent money after the Forrest rematch he was never as good but for the period between the first Six Heads Lewis fight and the Forrest rematch he was pretty damned good.

Mayorga cannot box, or at least he wasn't likely to outbox most of the elite opponents on his resume. Trash talking for him was a tool to hopefully get the opponent into a "fight/braw/firefight" as opposed to a boxing match. Of course, he was also a deucher, albeit a rather funny one. He was the kinda dude who you could laugh with as well as at, especially when he was being trounced

Probably something behind the scenes, like Oscar felt him up and he dared Ricardo to do something about it, and Ricardo failed the challenge, and it ate him up inside.

 

He hooted and hollered at what he thought was a hot chick but was chagrined to learn it was just Oscar in drag.
