I'd say Tyson was amazing until he let go of his manager AND his trainer / spiritual brother, Kevin Rooney after the SPINKS fight !

Those 2 things paved the way for money, Don King, partying, drugs, booze and lack of training to lead Tyson towards a Dead End !!

Inactivity, losing the drive to be great and stay on top and be dedicated to getting better, he lost it after the Buster Douglas fight and the prison inactivity worsened things.

Tyson was going down eventually, firing Rooney after losing Cus and Jimmy was the catalyst. Before Larry Holmes fought Tyson he said something to the effect of "he'll crash and burn soon", which turned out to be 100% right. Scumbags like Don King and the Givens's certainly aided in Mike's downfall but it was going to happen anyways.

Tyson had an extremely fragile mental state, in the Jr Olympics or amateurs(cant remember which) he cried before a fight and Teddy Atlas had to coax him just to fight. If Mike did not intimidate his opponents(Douglas, Holyfield, etc) he did not have the tools(after Rooney) to beat them.

Hip Hop music is to blame for Tyson's downfall.

All of the above, but Don King is still the main reason.
