What was the weight limit for De La Hoya/Pacquiao? De La Hoya weighed in at 145. Please provide a link to a source.
i personally don't think Oscar was Drained. I think he just trained himself down to that weight. And that became his walking around weight by the time he fought PAC
I think it was 144 but the contract was changed sneakily like a thief in the night before weigh-in because Pac can not make 144.
You having a laugh!??? LOL!! I have never seen someone look so bad in the ring! There is footage of Roach even saying that DLH shouldn't have taken the fight at that weight because he was wasted....
I am just playing with the ***** thread starter! You don't get it? It is obviousle at 147. Is there any debate about it? Unless if he is insinuating rehydration clauses. The 144 is another fight.
You don't understand human physiology? When 4 weeks before weigh-in and oscar is already hovering at or near 147, he is not dehydrated. He simply went to extreme diet. And when you do that, you lose PROTEINS (or muscle mass) instead of body water (which is the actual description of DRAINED fighter). By losing body mass (or muscle or protein), you simply can not rehydrate (or become bigger) by ingesting fluids because you are never fluid deficit to begin with. An attempt to inject fluid would cause physiologic problems because it would overload the system with problems to the heart, lungs, and other end organs. Which explains why Oscar never gained weight despite attempt to put IV fluids in him. Contrast to a drained fighter or a fighter who actually drained. Example margarito, who fights at welter and comes at middleweight. They withhold water and food (similar to diarrhea) and then takes fluids after. Because he is FLUID DEFICIT, he can absorb so much fluid and gain weight in the process.
Yes he looked bad, because he was terrible condition. I'm just saying Oscars team know how to dehydrate for a weigh in, and rehydrate up to a bigger weight. I think he looked very thin his whole camp. Its just my theory but the fact he was 145, (they woundnt have dehydrated him to that amout) and came in 147. (Come on they know how to hydrate a fighter at least 10 pounds) Makes me believe that De laHoya naturally weighed that amount around the Pac Fight. Yes he looked terrible- As weight loss will have also meant muscle loss. But i just dont think he was drained (he could still take a punch) I think he was just Shot (or to heavilly declined to face a fighter as quick as Pac.
