Didn't Oscar get rehydrated via an I.V drip, i remember him looking slow and pretty ****ed in that fight but Pacquiao was pretty mobile and landed at will. Oscar at 154 would have been totally different. Whats the catch weight for Marquez??? Is it 144 and if so, is Pacquiao's WBA on the line?
welterweight pacquiao > the partime 154 boxer in Oscar about as hard as he did in 08. And yes the wbo belt is on the line.
PBF has correctly stated that DLH had to be on an IV drip.... he was a mess. A fight at 154/160 would have been a whole diff ball game.
Rumours are spreading that Pacquiao has agreed to fight Mayweather for the WBC Welterweight title in May 2011. The following clauses have been added by Team Pacquiao. 1. Floyd must weight less than 143 pounds. 2. Floyd cant throw a straight right hand. 3. Leonard Ellerbe isin't allowed to say, at any point in the fight, "just keep boxing that muh ****er"
147 but Oscar had to pay Emmanuel $1mil for every lb he weighed over that on fight night or something wasn't it?
Even then, I think they were panicking about his weight, so put him on an IV drip too boost him up. However his body just wouldn't go anyhigher. The fight wouldn't have got sanctioned at 154/160. Seen as though Manny's last fight was 135 and only had one fight there.
Oscar was crowing weeks before the fight that he was going to match Pac's speed for speed. His strategy was to weigh below 147 to gain speed, as well as to diffuse public criticisms about the weight advantage. People forget that Pac was totally unproven at 147 and even his die-hard fans were against the fight. There was even a Philippine Congressman who proposed to legally prohibit Pac from taking the fight. Finally, the claim that there was a clause that put a re-hydration limit on Oscar is pure baloney perpetuated by *****s who want to denigrate Pac's achievement in beating Oscar. No one, not even floyd, had the clout to dictate anything to Oscar at that time.
I believe the official weight stipulation was 'emaciated anorexic girl' for this one. Take a look at delahoyas legs in the ring that night tell me he wasn't close to collapse through exhaustion. Fishnets hadn't weighed in that light for nearly twelve years, at the age of 35. But I'm sure he was fully fit and healthy.
