The only controversial thing I can recall about the Hunter fight was that it probably should have been stopped. He put a massive beating on him in the 10th and 12th rounds. But overall it was highly competitive and Hunter certainly gave him the fits early in the fight. The Breidis fight was close but clear. I've seen more decisive victories go against the away fighter and I was a little concerned he wouldn't get the nod in Latvia. But the judges scored it fairly. I don't think the Chisora fight was that close, certainly not close enough to be argued to other way. Usyk did look very uncomfortable but if the reports are to believed he was injured and I think Chisora's unorthodox swarming is a harder style for guy like Usyk to contend with. I just didn't think Dereck was all that effective.
Breidis for sure. He gave Usyk a tough fight but came up short in the end. After a slow start Usyk beat Hunter pillar to post- it was lopsided. No one has come close to beating Usyk. Incredible as it seems he is that special.
Briedis for sure. I had that fight 117-111, or at best 8-4. The scorecards were way closer than it should tho. That draw was just a ridiculous. I think the judges gave the last 2 round to Briedis which is insane. Usyk definitely won both of them. Hunter fight wasn't close at all. The punching output from Usyk from 10 to 12 was an absolutely insane. You don't see such thing often. Usyk probably throwed 300 punches in this 3 rounds, and probably landed half of them - 150 .... As far as Chisora fight, watch the latest Usyk interview, he speak about Chisora fight. Usyk had a hard COVID, and his hand was injured and he even undergo surgery. He said that he pretty much have 2 training session for that fight .... You can watch it here, the guy is translating. This content is protected
Again hard COVID, he had a injury on his hand, and even undergo surgery, and by his word he had 2 trainings session for that fight.
For sure Briedis. I had Usyk winning it but it was close - even without home bias. Hunter fight was basically a fight of two different halves. Hunter looked pretty good early on and won a couple of rounds but gassed badly in the second half. Usyk was beating the living crap out of him in the last few rounds. Usyk won like 8-4 against Hunter and 7-5/8-4 against Briedis BUT the Briedis fight was much closer in general as Briedis was game in the last few rounds while Hunter was basically done after 8.
Just saw a YouTube out there where Usyk says he COVID during training camp and was not 100% For the fight. He's not one for excuses so I believe him. Yeah, see the video above.
