Wilder just didn't seem his usual self on fight night against Fury, perhaps he had the coronavirus? Shane McGuigan said something was definitely wrong in Wilder's camp! This content is protected
He's already confirmed that his smashingly fabulous blouse was too heavy for his freshly shaven legs, too many sequins apparently.
He realized his lack of boxing skill was finally going to catch up with him. It was a good run. Self awareness is its own reward. Getting punched in the head and body gets old quickly.
He was nearly 20 lbs heavier on skinny aging legs. Almost 35 years old. If his legs were tired ; it was not because of the costume. He may have thought it was because he may not have understood how his legs could be so tired. At this age closer to 40 years and beyond an athlete legs just wont be there on any given night. I think this is what could have happened but he may not understand this. His legs may be strong in the next fight. But it could start to bother him more and more as time goes by. He probably felt fine coming to the arena. But once he started getting ready the leg weakness will take effect. He looked a little dry to me especially to be under that costume. So I also guess that he didnt warm up and get a good sweat to try and preserve his legs. So once he got in his stance and started bearing down , his leg weariness is only going to accelerate. Fury adding his own body weight is going drain is leg strength even further. Nothing can be done. The minute between rounds to rest would make no difference. If he drops some weight his legs may be stronger in the rematch. Maybe it was only the extra weight. But if his legs are now gone; he will quickly realize he is joining the other fighters before him that suddenly lose their legs as they age.
