I thought the scoring in this fight was a bit of a travesty. 120-108 really? My card was 116-113 for ward. I thought Bika came in as expected and was very tough. He won a lot of those rounds on work rate alone. I feel badly for Bika, the guy is very tough and deserves a lot of respect for his effort. This was a very tough fight for Ward and Bika and I think they both showed tremendous determination. What was your card like?
Your card was very similar to mine, I had it 8-4 Ward. I have to admit that I wasn't paying as close attention once Marquez-Katsidis started, but I still scored off of what I saw. There was no way Bika was getting a decision though, I think we all knew that even though we all hope for fair scoring. A shutout for Ward is a disgraceful card.
Scoring was pretty bad. I had it 8 rounds to 4 for Ward. 120 to 108 is pretty atrocious. The right guy won, the cards still scream home cookin.
It was a fairly hard fight to score IMO, lot of close rounds and really an old school fight where the guys were able to fight from the grasp. This was definitely a throwback fight. ** One edit. I thought the ref did a good job and let them fight and get rough on the inside IMO.
Ward's personal judges are the best judges money can buy. Ward's referee pushed Bika away was biased of course.
Yeah! I think any boxer that goes to Oakland to fight Ward is suicidal! These judges watch too much MMA...
pretty fun fight to watch.... it was a real trenchware! 1st - Bika easily wins by workrate 2nd - Bika easily wins by workrate 3rd - kind up in the air, but i favor Ward w/ effective punching 4th - Ward w/ effective punching 5th - Ward w/ effective punching 6th - close round, favord Ward for ring generalship & control 7th - Ward w/ effective punching 8th - Bika, greater workrate & aggression 9th - Ward, Ward "Allen Green'd" Bika on the ropes 10th - Ward, effective punching 11th - close round, but favors Ward 12th - Bika, massive effort & aggression Ward wins over Bika, 8-4 (116-112) this was a real great proving fight for Ward. Congratz to Ward for taking on a seriously tough opponent to fight. Bika is the first opponent who's really rough & tough inside, and the only one ive seen who refused to be COMPLETELY broken by Ward's subtle tactics, besides Edison Miranda. You could see his will sapping out though in the 9th as he let Ward keep him pinned on the ropes. Bika's the first fighter who didnt oblige in the clinch early on. This basically won him the first 2 rounds. Ward proves to easily be the top "Grinder" in boxing....
120-108 **** Bika won the first 2 rounds easily with the 6th being a draw, then I switched over to the JMM card
116-112 Ward That 120-108 card further proves Farmy's theory about Ward's personal judges. Not to mention I thought the ref was horrid as well.
8-4, 8-3-1? Ward won it, Bika admits as much. And Ward proved he wouldn't do a Juan Diaz when cut and fouled and just give up.
