Always liked it when Bruno got starched every time he stepped up. My favourite beating he got was from the Bonecrusher.
I got to admit, I was cheering on McCall in the 12th. I just think it would have been (and I thought this at the time) better for his popularity if he went down in history as always giving it a go, but falling short of a world title.
Aside from his Green and Gold belt, I'll remember Bruno for being the first man to hurt Tyson with that left hook. With a little bit of composure he could have got Tyson out of there.
I don't get the McCall fight being this popular here. Yes, it's when he won his WBC belt, but Bruno more or less survived against Oliver. He had much better fights, both winning and losing. With Tyson I probably his real career highlight boxing wise.
I think that is his legacy anyway. I think the McCall fight is way down the list of those who followed Frank from the start memories. Indeed to mention it, means the second Tyson fight becomes a flash back, and that was sad. I would have much rather seen Bruno choke once again so late against McCall and thus avoided the near total humiliation of what would be his last fight.
But he was not though, he was merely a title holder. We all knew there were better fighters around, and one of them duly showed it by steamrolling him in a shambles of finale to The Bomber's career.
