Kind of like I did after the Mayweather fight, the Jacobs fight, the first Golovkin fight, the second Golovkin fight, the Lara fight, the Chavez Jr fight, the Bivol fight, the Cotto fight, the Callum Smith fight, the John Ryder fight, the Jermell Charlo fight ... that he's not the puncher he's billed as.

He has 39 KOs in 64 fights. He's not as soft of a puncher as Hector Camacho, but he's getting there the longer he fights.

I'm shocked when he actually scores a knockout anymore.

I thought at the time that with that kind of stopping power he would one day cave Saunders' face in with one punch and also KO Kovalev with two. Walking down and bashing up Callum Smith also seemed like an obvious outcome.

Yes, he certainly improved with all that technical work in the gym, didn't he? Wow, amazing what hard work can do! It's a wonder anybody uses PEDs when they can just get these kinds of improvements with dedication.

Yeah, not just a gift, but a lopsided gift. I thought, why fight at all, just give the fight to Canelo. Something else was weird, Trout was trying so hard not to be a bad sport, that he was going along with it, in the post fight interview, which got him more big fights. He was a guy you can rob if necessary and he won't complain.

I attribute Canelo failing to knockout Charlo due to Charlo's defense being just that good, further backed up by his great stamina and the fact that he often gets stronger the longer the fight goes on. That was proven as he never slowed down despite all the body shots Canelo landed. Everyone else at 168 has slowed down when Canelo landed enough body shots. Defense wise, Plant is the only one in recent memory who fought defensively and even he cracked at the end of round 10. The fact that Charlo, a blown up 154 lber, never cracked while guarding or even slowed down is a huge testament to what he's capable of defensively.

I'd argue this makes Charlo an outlier.

I was very impressed because a siders very rarely fight high risk low reward like Trout and Lara.

It set the stall for the rest of his career really.
