I had it 8 to 4 for Floyd. There was a round that could have made it 5, but Cotto didn't seal the deal on the round. The judges were absolutely blind in scoring that fight.

117-111 Floyd. With that said, people need to understand that you can be extremely competitive and still lose every round.

Cotto was very competitive, but Mayweather's work was clean and effective 10-2, maybe 9-3 Mayweather

    116-112 Mayweather

I'd really not mind a rematch at all if Mayweather doesn't get a "bigger" name (literally or figuratively...meaning Maravilla or Pacquiao...or maybe to an extent Canelo, since that might actually be a "bigger" event than a Cotto rematch in financial terms - especially if it's on Cinco de Mayo in Mexico or a locale with a large Mexican-American base) and assuming Cotto beats Trout.

It was the most fun I've had watching Mayweather in years. (and that includes him knocking the senses out of that punk Ortiz, and surviving Mosley's last best shot to dissect him like a sheep's heart in 6th grade science class the rest of the way...certainly more fun than watching him bully my boy Marquez all puffed up and useless :verysad)

You're not really serious with that are you? Even with my Cotto-tinted glasses on I couldn't give him more than 3 rounds.

I think JMM gives him a tougher fight now (pac3-leading to 4 version)

Mayweather had about 7-8 dominant & clear rounds. Cotto only had a couple. Of those remaining, you can definitely argue for Cotto.

Cards ranging from 9-3 to 7-5 are acceptable.

Of course, 8-4 is juuuuust right. :D

If Marquez beats Pacquiao, they should go at it again for a 5 & 6 to give Marquez a chance to finish with the scales balanced in his favor. :D

    3-2-1 :banana

In any event, I'm not really interested in Mayweather vs. Marquez II at all. Floyd is too big and too skilled and his style isn't one that Marquez's can be too effective against even if they were the same size.

Marquez is a better p4p fighter than Cotto IMO, but due to size & styles I don't think he could ever be as competitive against PBF as Cotto was.

I think so too. Mayweather was JMM's first fight above 140. His body didn't have time to adapt to the weight, and his training was a shambles. His body was probably in the worst shape it's ever been for a fight. He looked bloated and fat, and it showed in the ring. He had no speed, and his reflexes were poor. Despite having grown into the weight, and finally taken his training regime into the 21st century, I don't think he could beat Mayweather, but he definitely has the talent to get within a few rounds if he displayed more patience, let Mayweather attack, instead of aggressively coming forward himself and being countered to death.

I really don't think it was just the bloat and the misplaced priorities in camp.

I don't even like Marquez against Mayweather, best version vs. best version at super feather in a time machine.

I agree, he's a stylistic nightmare for JMM no matter what. But the fact is, he did lose patience, got overly aggressive, and got picked off easily. As for any counterpuncher, patience and fainting, goading your opponent into attacking is essential, and he basically abandoned that during the fight. Granted, Mayweather is more intelligent than most, and it's hard to execute any form of cohesive gameplan against him, but I feel had JMM been more patient, he could have had a little more success. Add to that the fact that he's grown into the weight, and certainly regained the speed and reflexes that weren't there in the Mayweather fight, I think it's pretty clear he could do better. Win? No. Probably get within 4 rounds at best, but he could do far better than the shutout he suffered, no doubt.
