Now, I've never seen the complete De La Hoya-Quartey fight myself, but have, of course, heard quite a bit about it. I've generally had the impression that it was a close-but-largely-agreed-upon win for De La Hoya, but notice some people referring to it as a "gift" which the overwhelming majority scored for Quartey in some places, such as the "is DLH an all-time great?" thread. I'm curious what the real consensus is here, and will soon watch and score the match for myself.

I had Quartey winning by a round, but would consider a draw fair as well.

Thats not exactly it could have gone either way, but thats the closest option to my opinion.

I had Ike winning but it could have gone either way.

    Ike by a single point.

As I've said before, I don't have a problem with people narrowly having it for DLH. But when people say he clearly won it because of the 12th, that's nonsense. It was a damn close fight.

There's no 8-8. It's a 10 point must system. The 6th round would be 10-9 for Ike. If it's even it's 10-10, but that was a pretty clear Quartey round as he definitely controlled the round after the 2 KDs.

Quartey won between 10-8 rounds, he could just land his jab over and over and over. The rounds that weren't full of action were all for Quartey because he worked Oscar over with his jab and Oscar couldn't land

    GIFT DECISION

PS I rewatched DLH-Whitaker - this is clearly won by Oscar for my money Whitaker just didn't do enough.

    Quartey by 1 point.

I've noticed a lot of people have scored it the same way: 114-113 Quartey

Oscar's offense in that last round is so sickeningly overrated. And I'm not a hater.

That's because the rounds were pretty easy to score, unlike many other close debatable decisions (especially involving Oscar).

The key is basically how you scored the 11th, and whether or not you had it 3-2 for Oscar or Ike after 5 (or 2-2-1). There was one pretty close round in the first 5 rounds, I can't remember which one.

I had Quartey by 3 points a draw is possible but the wide scorecards for DLH anger me very much so same with his win over Whitaker.

I haven't watched it in a while but I had Oscar winning a very close decision. If he hadn't won the 12th and KD Quartey in it I would have had DLH losing.

Its the wide scorecards that angry the Quartey fans whether or not he actually lost the fight narrowly.

I own the DLH-Quartey fight and both times I have scored the fight I had DLH by a point, but it was damn close for sure.

I thought Whitaker beat DLH by a point or two. Though I only saw this fight once when the played it on HBO (can't remember if it was live or a replay).
